The Rainforest class has finally reached the last week of the inquiry cycle. Before they conclude, they review what they have learned to determine if they fully understand the information they gathered and if they have achieved the learning goals they set at the beginning of the journey.

As they reviewed their materials, one learner profile caught their attention: “Open-minded.” Curious about its meaning, they engaged in spontaneous group discussions. They wondered aloud: What does it mean? Is it about trying new things? Is it simply being open? To find answers to their questions, they conducted research online to gather information about open-mindedness. After reviewing the information, the whole class felt relieved to discover that their understanding was correct. Open-mindedness involves welcoming new ideas, respecting different perspectives, and being willing to try new approaches. In conclusion, the class agreed that everyone is unique, and by embracing open-mindedness, they would not only be happier but also enhance their learning experiences.

Before the class finished their Phonics lesson, we had a final inquiry into reading. We explored words in the past tense and focused on how to pronounce them. It was wonderful to see the students demonstrate their listening and reading skills as they worked together to identify the differences among the words. They discovered that they could hear three distinct sounds: /t/, /ed/, and /d/. The students successfully differentiated the words and categorized them according to the final sound.

The entire RF class had fun during their last tennis lesson, practicing the learner profile attributes on the court and ensuring they made good choices while enjoying their final tennis session.
