Grades 4, 5 and 6: Support from all sides

Hello, everyone. We hope you enjoyed the past week and Tuesday’s holiday. Grades 4, 5 and 6 brought their Unit of inquiry to and end this week. They collected the wide extent of their knowledge of sustainability in order to organize their own action for sustainability, which they presented to their classmates on Thursday. The students’ ideas ranged from walking to school and recycling more to saving water by not throwing the water from your drink bottle away and stopping pollution by simply buying less things. Everyone prepared very well, worked hard even on their days off and showed strong willpower to do something for the environment and to include the communities around them as well. It is lovely to see their parents, grandparents, teacher and friends support them in their efforts. 🏆

Next week, the students will start the final Unit of this school year and bring the school year to an end. From April, our sweet students are becoming fifth-years (and some even sixth- and seventh-year students). Their progress is visible in everything they do, and this was very noticeable during this weeks swimming lesson (the students are already swimming butterfly-style across the entire length of the pool!), music practice time (wonderful harmonies!) and cooking lesson (students practiced the beautiful art of tea ceremony). If you have time, please come and support the students on February 27th during the Swimming Lesson Open Day, on March 4th during the Grade 4, 5 and 6 Open Day and on March 13th during the Gym Lesson Open Day, which will feature the students’ yearly music performance. We look forward to seeing you there! 🏊‍♂️🎷🍵

On Monday, the students received visitors in the form of secondary school students from UWC ISAK international boarding school in Karuizawa. The students organized a workshop titled “Philosophy for Children” as part of their schoolwork and they discussed the topics of differences, respect and individuality. Grade 4, 5 and 6 students enjoyed learning from their upperclassmen and simply spending time with them, chatting and playing together. We hope to see them again soon! 🤗
