This week has been an exciting transition from the 2015 school year to the 2016 school year. We have made lots craft , run lots of laps around our 330m exercise circuit, and met lots of new friends in Spring Program. Certainly these are great memories to end the year.
During this school year in mathematics, and in health and physical education we are hoping to run as many times as we can around our 330 meter exercise track. Our goal is to run every Monday and Friday morning for 15 minutes. Importantly students will record all the laps they run each day: firstly on a table, and then on a graph. Students will also investigate the many health benefits of this regular physical activity.
This work done in mathematics also relates to science where we are investigating the concept of speed: speed of vehicles, people, animals and wind. Using an anemometer, students are reading the speed of the wind; an extension of this knowledge is the investigation of the force of wind and its uses both for people and for animals.
In language students have been practicing speaking from notes; as well as these notes, the speaker also chooses other words from the grammar word charts to make sentences from their brain. When students speak, they also practice the other public speaking skills: eyes up, pausing, voice projection, clarity, and stance. Speaking regularly in front of an audience, students are quickly becoming competent and more creative with their speeches.
Everyone in Elementary Class would like to thank all of the Spring Program students for coming and sharing the fun of learning at ISN, and we look forward to seeing you again in Summer Program.
