ISN Elementary Class may be in the full swing of the ISN Spring Program but students continue to benefit from being active in their learner profile attitudes. In particular this week we have been focusing on caring, communicating, and inquiring.
Caring for each other, all students have been enjoying helping each other with the new routine of the ISN Spring Program. As we have many visiting students during this time, the regular ISN students have not only made new friends but they have also made a positive difference to their learning environment by assisting, sharing, and working together in team activities.
Communicating well with their peers, elementary students have been having fun learning about others and enjoying their company. We have certainly enjoyed a variety of interesting activities where talking, reading, and writing played an important part. Even though we are only in the first week of our Spring Program, all students are already showing their confidence and creativity in expressing their ideas. In particular our art activity had everyone buzzing with discussion as to how they would complete their colourful creations using the technique of etching.
Inquiring about balloons and their strength, students have showed their excitement in planning an experiment to test their theory. Initially students were interested in finding out if balloons were strong enough to support the mass of a person; however this lead to wanting to know if balloons could support a few people. The next problem was how were they going to test and record their ideas. The outcome to their discussion was a clear theory and a simple method using materials we had in the classroom. Next week we will put our theory to the test. Enthusiastic inquirers of the future!
