Hello Aurora families!
We have had another fun week at ISN!
We started off the week with a great gym lesson! For the month of November, we will be working on improving our hand-eye coordination by throwing and catching. We started off this lesson by stretching our bodies, and then warmed ourselves up by jogging around the classroom. Our first catching activity involved pop flies, where students tried to catch a ball thrown to them. Next, we learned how to throw balls using the underhand method. Combining these two skills, we then played catch with a partner, using our newly acquired throwing and catching skills. Next we worked on aiming our throws. With a partner holding a hula hoop, we had three tries to throw our ball through the hoop, and then switched after 3 throws. Finally, we split up into two teams, and played catch, trying to see how many catches we could make in a row. Everyone managed to catch at least one ball!
Next we made a very exciting craft. Recently we have been learning about feelings, and how we can express our feelings. Today, we focused on the feeling “cold”, since it has been getting colder recently. First we talked about things we think of when we say “cold”. Some examples included hot spring baths, warm fires and snow. After that we chose a coloured piece of paper, and performed a combination of colouring and collaging to make a scene we think of when we say “cold”. Everyone did a great job, and made some lovely pictures.
Finally, we had another great music lesson! We started off by clapping along to some animal names with two and three syllables. After that we practised more of our Christmas show musical instruments, listening to and repeating different patterns on our jingly bells and our castanets. Finally, we sang London Bridge is Falling Down, a mix of slow and fast versus. We held our hula hoops and marched around the classroom, going faster or slower depending on what we heard. Well done everybody!
Thank you very much, and see you again next time!
