We began the UOI lesson this week by first talked about our outer body parts as well as the inner parts. Children learned to labeled some of the inner and outer body parts by copying what we talked about unto their worksheets.

今週からUOIのレッスンが始まりました。まず、体の外側と内側について話しました。 クラスみんなで話したあと、体の各部分の名称を体の形のワークシートに書き写して学びました。

In addition to the body parts discussion, we talked about what we look like by observing ourselves with a mirror. We examined our skin color, as well as hair, eyes, and other facial parts. Children then drew themselves with much details like skin tones, and added the fashion they like. They were fascinated at how we look similar, yet so different at the same time.

体の部位の話し合いに加えて、鏡を使って自分自身を観察し、自分たちがどのような姿をしているか話し合いました。 肌の色だけでなく、髪の毛、目、その他の顔のパーツもよく見てみました。 その後、それぞれ好きな洋服を着た自分の絵を描きました。みんな、自分たちがどれだけ似通っていて、一方でとても違っているということに興味津々でした。

In phonic lessons, children are learning about labels and prints in our environments. They went around the room to find some labels, then looked closely to their friends’ names to see some of the similarities and differences. They learned to clap out the syllabus, and finding words that have the same initial sounds. In math, they have been learning how to write the number words.

フォニックスのレッスンでは、教室内に貼られている単語について学んでいます。それらの単語や、クラスのお友達の名前をよく見て、それぞれの単語の類似点と相違点を確認しました。 拍手を使って音節を体感したり、語頭に同じ音を持つ単語を見つけたりしました。 算数の時間では、数の書き方を学んでいます。

Aside from all the academics, the children really enjoyed their gym and tennis lessons. They all talked about it all day long and cannot wait to go back for more!

勉強の他に、子供たちはジムとテニスのレッスンを楽しみました。 一日中その話で盛り上がり、次回が待ちきれない様子でした。

During Japanese lesson, children learned first to trace the various lines then learned about the Children’s Day that is coming up soon. They made a craft to go along with this lesson. The handheld windmill was so much fun they all had a run with it outside afterwards.

日本語のレッスンでは、最初に運筆の練習をしました（卒園までに自分の名前をひらがなで書けるよう練習していきます）。クラフトの時間には、こどもの日について学び、折り紙でこいのぼりと風車を作りました。完成した後、園庭に出て風車を回して楽しく遊びました。

During reading, the children learned to share a book with a friend by reading to each other. In our UOI lesson towards the end of the week, they all thought about what kind of foods they like and tried to incorporate a few healthy food unto their pictures.

リーディングの時間には、ペアになってお互いに本を読み合いました。 今週のUOIレッスンの締めくくりに向けては、それぞれの好きな食べ物について考え、自分が描いた絵に健康的な食べ物も少し取り入れられるかやってみました。

Last but not least, the children practiced hard with their pianica during the music lesson. They also loved our regular weekly run to the nearby park whether it is by bus or walking.

音楽のレッスンではみんな一生懸命ピアニカの練習をしました。 また、バスや徒歩で公園にも行き、外遊びもいっぱい楽しみました。

This week really has jam packed with so much fun, some days the children couldn’t fight their fatigue and fell asleep in the late afternoon. We are sure as they get use to the routine, they will be full of energy and ready to take on more challenges!

楽しさいっぱいの通常スケジュールとなりましたが、今週は帰り際に疲れてウトウトしてしまう様子も見受けられました。みんな本当によく頑張っています！ スケジュールに慣れてくれば、もっと元気いっぱいに、より多くのことに挑戦していけることでしょう！
