April: Overview of Life at ISN Middle School

At ISN Middle School, I made many friends from various countries. Each friend and teacher was unique. Spending time with my friends every day, I feel that I improved not only my English skills but also my communication and task management skills. This has led to a generally positive attitude, motivation, and confidence, such as thinking “I want to try” or “I can do it.” Just like the frequently heard term “Student Agency” at ISN, the more I proactively engaged with what was happening in school life, the more I experienced a variety of learnings that cannot be summed up in a single word. It was a very enjoyable experience. As someone who loves traveling the world, the experience of understanding and accepting the values of people in the international school environment was truly invaluable. I might visit those countries in the future.

In class, I frequently explored things I was interested in freely, and had discussions with teachers about my interests and concerns. With their support, I had fulfilling learning time, which deepened my understanding of the things I love. Even in events and everyday life, interpreting, summarizing and presenting, and leading student groups became routine, so I no longer get nervous. Even when asked suddenly, I can handle it quite naturally.

In preparation for taking entrance exams for Japanese high schools, I received personalized guidance from ISN, allowing me to focus on key points at my own pace. At that time, I thought it was normal since it was the only method I knew, but looking back now, I realize how precious that time was and how much support I received. Around the summer of my third year of junior high, I decided to attend a cram school twice a week and participated in summer courses. Studying for exams with peers from different schools and districts was refreshing, and it enhanced my concentration and awareness.
