UOI Lesson – My Body, My Face, I Am Special!
Where are your eyes? Is this your head? Is this your arm? Where are your toes? Where is your body? Canyon was really good at answering these questions. The Hokey Pokey is one of our favourite songs – “you put one hand in, you put one hand out, put one hand in and shake it all about…”.
目はどこについているの？これは手かな？これは腕？つま先はどこ？体は？キャニオンさん達はとても上手にこれらの質問に答えることができるようになりました！ホーキーポーキーはキャニオンさん達のお気に入りの曲の一つです！
We have been using playdough to learn about my body too – body, head, 2 arms, 2 legs. We even made Mummy and Daddy! Moulding and kneading playdough strengthen our fine motor skills. This prepares us for better finger grip and dexterity when we draw, and with self-help skills like buttoning up our pyjamas!
粘土を使用して、身体の名前を覚える活動もしました。身体、頭、２本の腕、２本の脚、などです。それから、パパとママも作りました！形を作ったり、粘土をこねたりすることは、小さな子どもたちの指先の感覚を鍛えます。今後、物をつかんだり、描いたり、ボタンを掛けたり外したり等に必要な筋肉や力を育てます！
We made faces too, but not at each other! We expanded our vocabulary with eyebrows, lips, cheeks, and chin. Canyon was really creative – big eye, small eye, O mouth, eyes with glasses and three monster eyes! We used colours to describe our features – black, brown, blue, green, red. We read a book: “We are the Same. We are Different”. Yet, we are all wonderful!
顔を制作する活動をしました。眉毛、唇、頬、あごなどの言葉を増やしながら学びました。キャニオンさん達はとてもクリエイティブ！大きな目や小さな目、〇の形のお口や眼鏡をかけた目、３つ目のモンスターまで作っていました！また色を使って一人一人の特徴についても探究しました。黒、茶、青、緑、赤色の目など様々な色の目があることを学びました。”We are the Same. We are Different”というタイトルの本も読みました。いろいろ違いはあるけれど、全部素敵だね！
We made jigsaw puzzle faces too. Each Canyon student is unique and special. “Look at the eyes. Can you guess who this is?” We are getting to know our friends in class too – their names. “Your name is… it starts with the letter…” We have started a picture dictionary of My Body Dictionary.
お顔のジグソーパズルも組み立てました。キャニオンさん一人一人が特別な存在。”Look at the eyes. Can you guess who this is?” という質問に、いとも簡単に答えてしまうお友だちがたくさんいました。名前は○○、始まりのアルファベットは〇！とみんなで英語のセンテンスで言い合いました！それから、今週はMy Body Dictionaryの制作も始めました！
Colours and My Favourite Fruits
We link learning colours and numbers to our IB unit. We read Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes about colours. We are learning colours through our favourite fruits too. Pete the Cat stepped into a pile of RED strawberries, then BLUE blueberries. The best way to get to know our fruits is to grow them, and we will! We started our inquiry with a farm walk. Canyon was so good at walking and observing. We tried looking for red, orange, yellow tomatoes but we could not see them in the nearby farms. Let’s grow tomatoes, Canyon! Grow, grow, grow bigger!
現在のIB探究にリンクをさせて、色や数字も学び始めています。Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoesというタイトルの、色についての本を読みました。好きな果物を使い、色も学びました。猫のピートは赤いイチゴの中に足を入れてしまいます。その次は青いブルーベリーの中、。果物について一番学べる方法は、実際に育ててみることです！そして、今年の夏はキャニオンクラスでプランターの畑を持つ運びとなりました！まずは近くの畑に様子を見に行きました。初めての園外へ徒歩で出かけました。さすがキャニオンさん、歩くことも観察することもとても上手でした。赤やオレンジ、黄色のトマトを探しましたが見つかりません。（まだ時期ではないですが。。。）そこで自分たちでカラフルなトマトを育てることになりました！大きく、大きく、大きくなーれ！
