🍆 Savanna’s Little Farmers Celebrate Their First Harvest! 🌱
Our little farmers in the Savanna class were bursting with excitement as they celebrated a small but meaningful success: their very first harvest of eggplants!
子どもたちは、自分たちで育てたナスの初めての収穫に大喜び！
小さな成功ではありますが、子どもたちにとってはとても意味のある素敵な経験となりました。
It all began on May 9th, when the whole class joined the campus-wide planting project by gently placing eggplant seedlings into the soil. While other classes planted their own crops too, it was Savanna who proudly harvested the first fruits, giving them a head start in the celebration!
はじまりは5月9日。
クラスのみんなでキャンパス全体の植え付け活動に参加し、ナスの苗をやさしく土に植えました。
他のクラスもそれぞれの作物を植えましたが、最初に収穫を迎えたのはサバナクラス！
一足先に喜びの瞬間を味わうことができました。
To mark the occasion, the class rolled up their sleeves and turned their fresh eggplants into a delicious treat: homemade eggplant pizza! Each child took part in layering ingredients like cheese, ketchup, eggplant slices, and more. Their faces lit up with anticipation as they watched their creations bake, waiting eagerly for that first bite.
この特別な機会を記念して、サバンナクラスでは収穫したばかりのナスを使って、ナスピザ作りに挑戦しました！
子どもたちはチーズやケチャップ、ナスのスライスなどを重ねながら、一人ひとりが楽しそうに調理に参加。
自分たちで作ったピザが焼き上がるのをワクワクしながら見守り、「早く食べたい！」と目を輝かせていました。
It was a joyful day full of teamwork, discovery, and the tasty reward of patience and care. We’re so proud of our tiny gardeners!
この日は、協力・発見・そしておいしいごほうびが詰まった、笑顔いっぱいの一日となりました。
時間と手間をかけて育てたナスの味は格別！
私たちは、そんな小さなガーデナーたちを心から誇りに思います。
🏙️ Exploring Our Community: Unit 2 Begins!
Back in the classroom, we’ve officially kicked off our second Unit of Inquiry under the transdisciplinary theme “How We Organize Ourselves.” This unit will focus on the fascinating world of Community Helpers.
Our goal is to help students recognize the important roles people play in a community—and to understand that we all rely on one another in order to live safely, happily, and healthily. Throughout this unit, we’ll explore questions like:
Where do we go when we’re sick? Who do we call when there’s a fire? What happens when someone is in trouble? We’re especially looking forward to collaborating with parents and community members to make this learning experience even more meaningful and real for the children.
Speaking of collaboration, our wonderful friends from the Shooting Star class joined us for a provocation activity at Aeon Mall! Together, we went on a mission to explore what makes a community and observe the people who help it thrive.
🏙️ 地域社会の探究： ユニット2開始
今週から、ユニット2がスタートしました！
今回のテーマは、教科の枠を超えた視点から学ぶ 「私たちの社会のしくみ（How We Organize Ourselves）」 。身近でありながら奥深い「コミュニティヘルパー」の世界に注目していきます。
子どもたちが、地域の中でさまざまな人たちが果たしている大切な役割に気づき、私たちはお互いに支え合いながら暮らしていることを理解するのが目標です。
ユニットを通して、
「病気のときはどこへ行くの？」
「火事のときは誰に連絡するの？」
といった問いを立てながら、身近な社会とのつながりを楽しく探究していきます。
そして「協力」といえば…
新しいユニットに向けた導入として、Shooting Starクラスのお友だちと一緒にイオンモールにも出かけました！
子どもたちは、「地域（コミュニティ）って何だろう？」「地域を支えている人ってどんな人？」という問いをもとに、モールの中で観察ミッションに挑戦。
楽しく交流しながら、地域を支える人々の姿をじっくり探ってきました。
The children were excited to spot real-life community helpers like a cleaner, chef, animal groomer, baristas, and more! To spark curiosity, we asked questions like:
“What are they doing?” “What are they called?” “What kind of shop is this?”
Many of the students eagerly shared their thoughts and knowledge, especially about how each person contributes to the community in their own way.
子どもたちは、イオンモールの中で実際に働く清掃員さん、シェフ、トリマーさん、バリスタなど、さまざまな「コミュニティーヘルパー」を見つけて大興奮！
「この人は何をしているの？」「なんていうお仕事？」「このお店は何屋さん？」といった問いかけを通して、興味や好奇心をぐんぐん広げていきました。
それぞれの人がどのように地域に貢献しているのかについても、子どもたち同士で知っていることを話し合ったり、気づきをシェアする様子がたくさん見られました。
