Welcome back, Grade 6! After a well-deserved holiday, we returned to school refreshed, recharged, and ready for a fantastic start to the year. The classrooms were once again filled with laughter, curiosity, and the excitement of reuniting with friends and teachers.
To kick off the new term, we took part in a special mochi pounding event! 🍡 It was a wonderful opportunity to experience this traditional Japanese activity firsthand. Students had a chance to use the wooden mallet, work together to pound the sticky rice, and, of course, enjoy the delicious mochi they helped make. Learning through doing always makes the experience so much more meaningful!
In our Unit of Inquiry (UOI), we have embarked on an exciting journey into Japanese history as part of our theme, “Where We Are in Place and Time.” Through engaging discussions, group research, and creative activities, students are exploring the historical events, cultural traditions, and influences that have shaped Japan over time. From ancient times to modern history, this unit allows us to connect the past with the present in an exciting and interactive way.

Outside the classroom, we have been staying active and having fun in PE! 🏃♂️⚽ Students enjoyed playing games, working on teamwork skills, and building their strength and coordination through different exercises. Physical activity is a great way to stay energized and focused for all the learning ahead.
