Hi all! This week’s highlight was our field trip to Okubohara park. Steam engines are said to use the force produced by steam pressure to push a piston back and forth inside a cylinder. This pushing force is then transformed by a connecting rod and crank into rotational force.The students observed and asked questions about the steam engine as part as LOI2(ancient and modern transportation). They got an opportunity to climb onto the steam engine and touch and feel several parts of the machine.

皆さん、こんにちは！今週のハイライトは、大久保原公園への遠足でした。蒸気機関車は、蒸気の圧力でシリンダー内のピストンを押し動かす力を利用していると言われています。Auroraさんたちは、LOI2（今と昔の交通機関）の一環として、蒸気機関車を見学し、たくさんの疑問が生まれたようです。「これはどうして今は走っていないの？」「どうやって動くの？」「これは何の機械なの？」「どうやって運転していたんだろう？」一人ひとり蒸気機関車の上に登り、機械のいくつかの部品に触り、感覚を体験していました。

⚫Safety on the roads!

For this week’s UOI, the students talked about the meaning of traffic signals and the different ways they can try to be safe on the roads. The general consesus was as follows:

.When the pedestrian lights is flashing to indicate that it is about to turn red,it’s best to wait for it to turn red and then green again before crossing the road.

・At a zebra crossing pedestrians have the right of way ,but before crossing the road, one must check both sides and then raise their hand as high as possible before proceeding to walk carefully to the other side.

今週のUOIでは、Auroraさんたちは信号機の意味と、道路を安全に歩くためのさまざまな方法について話し合いました。主な意見は次のようなものでした：

・歩行者用の信号が点滅して赤になりそうな時は、道路を横断する前に止まり、再び青になるのを待つ。

・横断歩道では、歩行者が優先ではあるけれど、道路を横断する前に左右を確認し、手をできるだけ高く上げてから反対側へ注意深く歩く。

Ms.Amandaのサイン「SLOW」「FAST」「STOP」をよく見て体を動かすアクティビティは大盛り上がりでした！

Nursery’s homeroom teacher, Ms.Chifumi had the whole school roaring with laughter and excitement as she led a “guess what’s in the box” game. Thank you！🤩　Happy 4th birthday to the two Aurora girls and one boy who turned 4. May the good Lord keep and bless you!♥️

Thursday the 6th will be Aurora’s last big event of the school year, the MUSIC CONCERT. Doors open at 09:30 and the event kicks off at 10:00. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
