On Monday, we went to Nagano General Rolling Stock Center of JR East where they maintain their trains. Our goal was to see how technology in trains has evolved. First, we learned that pantographs keep the trains moving. We discovered how trains draw electricity from overhead lines.

月曜日は、電車のメンテナンスを行っているJR東日本の長野総合車両センターに行きました。私たちの目的は、電車の技術がどのように進化してきたかを見ることでした。まず、パンタグラフが電車を動かしていることを学びました。電車が架線から電気を引き出す仕組みを発見しました。

After that, we were directed to the brain of the train mechanism where we saw how the engine works when we turn the lever from the slowest to the fastest the local train can run.

その後、私たちは列車機構の頭脳に案内され、レバーをローカル列車が走行できる最遅速度から最速速度まで回すとエンジンがどのように動作するかを見学しました。

Lastly, we discovered how train doors evolved from mechanical levers that we could hear air hissing everytime the door closes to a more advanced button-operated train door without hissing air.

最後に、私たちは、ドアが閉まるたびに風がシューという音がする機械式レバーから、風がシューという音を立てないより高度なボタン操作の電車のドアへと電車のドアがどのように進化したかを発見しました。

It was such a nice experience for us to learn how technology evolved in one of the used mode of transportation in our community. Trains help us to get to places fast and easy.

私たちのコミュニティでよく使われる交通手段の一つで、テクノロジーがどのように進化してきたかを学ぶことができたのは、私たちにとってとても素晴らしい経験でした。電車は、私たちが目的地に早く簡単に行くのに役立ちます。

Swimming

It was our last swimming lesson. We are thankful to our instructors for teaching us to swim and have fun in the water. We gave them our thank you card and took pictures together as our remembrance.

最後の水泳レッスンでした。水泳と水遊びを教えてくれたインストラクターに感謝しています。感謝の気持ちを込めてお礼状を渡し、思い出に一緒に写真を撮りました。
