Back in the classroom, our young inquirers in Savanna continued exploring their Unit of Inquiry on Community Helpers. This week, we zoomed in on a special kind of helper—someone who doesn’t treat people, but animals!
Savannaクラスでは探究ユニット「コミュニティヘルパー（地域の助ける人たち）」の学びを続けています。
今週はその中でも特別なタイプのヘルパーに注目しました。
それは、人ではなく、動物を助ける人です！
The word “doctor” was familiar to our learners, but the term “vet” sparked a lot of curiosity. Who is a vet? What do they do? How do they help our community? To kick off our inquiry, we read a book all about veterinarians. Through the pages, we discovered where vets work, what tools they use, and the many animals they care for.
子どもたちにとって 「doctor（お医者さん）」 という言葉は馴染みのあるものでしたが、「vet（獣医さん）」 という言葉には興味津々の様子でした。
「獣医さんって誰？」「どんなことをするの？」「どうやって地域を助けているの？」
探究のスタートとして、まずは獣医さんについての絵本を読みました。
本を通して、獣医さんがどこで働いているのか、どんな道具を使うのか、そしてどんな動物たちのお世話をしているのかを学びました。
To deepen our understanding, we invited a real veterinarian and a nurse to our class! They shared real video clips of their work, explained their tools and procedures, and told us stories of the animals they’ve helped. It was such a meaningful experience that sparked even more compassion and love for animals in the classroom. 🐶🐱🐰
理解をさらに深めるために、ゲストスピーカーとして獣医さんと看護師さんをクラスにお招きしました！
お二人は、実際のお仕事の様子を映したビデオを見せてくださったり、使用している道具や治療の流れについて説明してくださったり、助けた動物たちのお話もたくさん聞かせてくださいました。
動物たちへの思いやりや愛情がより一層深まる、とても貴重で心温まる体験となりました。
To reflect on our learning, we made our very own vet crafts, which are now proudly displayed outside our classroom. Each piece is a reminder of how community helpers care not only for people but for all living things.
学びを振り返るために、子どもたちはオリジナルの獣医さんクラフトを作りました！
作品は現在、階段横の壁に展示してあります。
それぞれの作品は、コミュニティヘルパーが人だけでなく、すべての命を大切にしていることを思い出させてくれる素敵な表現となっています。
But that’s not all! This week, we also went on a special visit to a local bakery. 🥐🍞 Our curious minds were full of questions:
✨ What does a bakery look like?
✨ Who works there?
✨ What tools do they use to make bread?
✨ Why is it important in the community?
でも、それだけではありません！
今週は、地元のパン屋さんへの訪問も行いました🥐🍞
子どもたちの探究心は質問でいっぱい！
✨ パン屋さんの中はどんなふうになっているの？
✨ どんな人が働いているの？
✨ パンを作るためにどんな道具を使うの？
✨ パン屋さんは地域にとってどんなふうに大切なの？
そんな問いを胸に、わくわくしながら出かけていきました。
We observed the bakers in action, listened attentively to their stories, and even got a peek at how they prepare one of our favorite breakfast foods—bread! It was an eye-opening experience that helped us appreciate how food is made and how bakers serve the community every day.
実際にパン職人さんが働く様子を間近で見学し、お話をじっくり聞かせていただきました。
そしてなんと、みんなが大好きな朝ごはんの定番「パン」がどのように作られているのかも見せてもらうことができました！
パンができるまでの工程を知り、食べ物の大切さや、パン屋さんが地域のために毎日どんなふうに働いているのかを学ぶ、貴重な体験となりました。
This week was full of meaningful connections, first-hand experiences, and deeper understanding. We are so proud of how our learners are growing into knowledgeable and caring members of the community.
今週は、たくさんの学びのつながり、実体験、そして理解の深まりにあふれた一週間となりました。
子どもたちが、地域の一員として思いやりと知識をもった存在へと成長している姿を、私たちはとても誇りに思います。
