UOI – Mapping Our Community & Learning About Time
This week, we continued exploring our local community by discussing the places we visited and what we observed. The students then created a 2D map, marking essential locations they remembered. Afterward, they proudly presented their maps, explaining the different community buildings they included.
We also introduced the concept of time and its importance. Using a bus schedule as an example, we discussed how knowing how to read time helps people plan their day. The students practiced telling the hour and recognizing when it is half past, connecting this skill to real-life situations.
By linking time to our community exploration, the students gained a deeper understanding of how schedules and timekeeping help people in their daily lives!
Open Lunch Day
We had a special Open Lunch Day! Parents joined their children in the classroom to share a meal together, experiencing the same delicious lunch the students enjoy every day. Everyone brought a rice ball from home to pair with the school-prepared side dishes and warm soup. A highlight of the meal was the sweet, crunchy apples grown by Ms. Elina. It was a wonderful time for families to connect and enjoy lunchtime, just like the students. Thank you to all the parents who joined us!
Snow play
The kids were excited to play outside in the snow. They used their imagination to create various things with the snow, including a chair, a snowman, a kitchen, ice cream, and many more.
Watch out for the demon
The Shooting Star class had a thrilling Setsubun celebration! A scary demon came to visit, but our brave students didn’t back down. Armed with newspaper balls, they worked together to chase the demon away, filling the room with excitement and laughter. Their courage and teamwork helped bring good luck for the year ahead.
