The highlight of this week was the Birthday Party held on Monday morning. The whole school gathered there to celebrate with those born in April. Milky way students are taking their role of being ‘big sisters and big brothers’ very seriously . To show that thay are indeed the oldest class in the school, they will be escorting nursery students to the music room every month for the birthday parties.Rainbow’s Ms.Marlyn dressed up as Elsa from the movie Frozen ,and sang a song for everyone. The whole school enjoyed this.Happy birthday to M,K and R. We pray this year will be a great one for you all!

Our main focus for this month’s phonics lessons is the “Bossy R” and for this week’s phonics lesson, the students were introduced to the “er” sound. After that they played the “london bridge” game where they sang the song while crossing the bridge made by their peers. Through this fun activiy, they remembered all the words that were introduced during the lesson. These were FERN,GERMS,HERD,HERBS and DEER. Great work Milky Way!

They enjoyed this week’s Japanese lesson and for their reading lesson, they read “we go.”

To reinforce what they learned about recycling last week, the students did a dice craft using milk cartons. They talked about how they dispose of them at home and where they take them after cleaning and cutting them up(recycling stations at supermarkets etc). They then played a game using one of the dice.

“What does the word ‘reduce’ mean? What are some of the ways we can use a little less? How so?” These are some the main questions that were the pivot of Monday’s UOI lesson.

The students now know what the 3Rs are and have an idea of what each word means.Next week we plan on focusing on “reusing” .If you have the time and opportunity please talk to your kids about some of the things that you reuse at home as a family.
The show and tell sessions are going very well and the students are slowly but surely gaining confidence to speak in front of their peers and teachers.

Since last week Friday, the students reviewed 2 Learner Profile Attributes a day and they picked one they chose to focus on during the day. They then reflected about whether they behaved in a way that aligns with that particular LPA at the end of the day . We finished reviewing all of them on Thursday, so going forward we will be placing particular emphasis on understanding the first unit’s main LPAs- Knowledgeable, Inquirer and Principled.

Our second swimming lesson is on Monday the 21st !
Enjoy your weekend!
