Hi everyone! みなさんこんにちは！
The students began their annual inquiry (plants and vegetables topic) last week when they visited a rice paddy. By participating in rice planting with local farmers, the students got to get a sense of just how hard farmers work hard to feed the nation. Mr. Koyama visited the school on Tuesday and helped the students to plant cucumbers and radishes.
MWの生徒たちは先週、田んぼを訪問し、毎年恒例の植物と野菜の探究を始めました。地元の農家の方々と一緒に田植えを体験することで、生徒たちは農家の方々が国民の食糧確保のためにどれほど懸命に働いているかを肌で感じることができたのではないでしょうか。そして今週は田植えでもお世話になった小山さんが園を訪れ、キュウリと赤大根の植え付けを手伝ってくれました。MWガーデンが完成！

This week’s phonics lesson was a continuation of last week’s differentiation between short and long vowel sounds. They played the “I spy with my little eye” game, where they had to listen to the short or long vowel sound word said by the teacher and then search for the corresponding word around the classroom.
今週のフォニックスレッスンは、引き続き先週の短母音と長母音の区別についてです。生徒たちは「I spy with my little eye」ゲームをしました。これは、先生が話す短母音または長母音の単語を聞いて、教室の中にある単語からその母音を使っている単語を探すというゲームです。
The students continued their discussion about water pollution and expanded their knowledge and understanding by watching videos, sharing their thoughts and doing worksheets. They talked about how water pollution affects the food chain and drew pictures of this. Sea lions eat fish. If all the fish in the world were to die, sea lions wouldn’t have food to eat and they might die. If sea lions were to die, sharks wouldn’t have food left to eat either and the food chain would be affected irreversibly! Everyone made sad faces and pointed to a picture of a fish that had died from choking on plastic. They said, “stop polluting our waters, keep our fish safe and healthy!”
生徒たちは水質汚染についてのディスカッションを続け、ビデオを見たり、自分たちの考えを共有したり、ワークシートに取り組んだりすることで、知識と理解を深めでいます。水質汚染が食物連鎖にどのような影響を与えるかについて話し合い、その様子を絵に描きました。アシカは魚を食べます。もし世界中の魚が全て死滅したら、アシカは餌がなくなり、死んでしまうかもしれません。アシカが死滅すれば、サメも餌がなくなり、食物連鎖は取り返しのつかない影響を受けてしまうでしょう。クラスの皆が悲しそうな顔をして、プラスチックを喉に詰まらせて死んだ魚の写真を指差しました。「私たちの水を汚すのをやめて、私たちの魚を安全で健康な状態に保ちましょう！」と言いました。
