Greetings!
As we end Unit 1 on recycling, we have planned some activities for the summative assessment, such as a community cleanup drive and making toys for younger friends using recyclable materials.
The community cleanup drive fosters responsibility, understanding the impact of human actions on the environment, and a sense of community. By participating, kids learn about the effects of litter, develop empathy for their environment, and gain positive feelings toward their community. Engaging in this kind of activity also promotes teamwork, physical activity, and can boost their overall well-being.
みなさん、こんにちは！
リサイクルに関するユニットのまとめとして、Rainforestの子ども達は地域のために自分たちに何が出来るかを考えました。その中のひとつとして、地域のゴミ拾いに出掛けることにしました。
ゴミ拾いをすることで、ごみをゴミ箱に捨てなければならないという責任感や、ごみを自然の中に捨てるとどのような事が起こるかなどを考えることが出来ました。また、みんなで一緒にゴミ拾いをすることで、協力して活動に取り組むことの大切さを学ぶことが出来ました。子ども達は、たばこの吸い殻、ビニール片、空き缶など、たくさんのゴミを拾って道をきれいにして、自分たちがよく使う道をきれいにすることが出来ました。
Making toys with recycled materials fosters creativity and environmental awareness. Our youngsters decided to make some toys for their Savanna, Canyon, and Waterfall friends using recycled materials like milk cartons to create puzzles, trucks, and frogs, as well as PET bottles and Yakult bottles for shakers. After that, we visited each class to share what they had made and gave the toys to them. By doing this activity, our little ones also shared with their younger friends that using recycled materials can help reduce waste and conserve our resources.
自分たちのスクールの為に何が出来るかも考え、先生が提案したいくつかの案から子ども達が選んだのは、自分たちより小さなお友達にリサイクル材料を使って作った玩具をプレゼントすることです！Savanna、Canyon、Waterfallクラスの友だちのために、本やインターネットを見ながら、牛乳パックなどのリサイクル素材を使って、パズル、トラック、カエル、シェイカーなどのおもちゃを作りました。各クラスを訪問して、作ったものをどのように使うかを見せてあげました。この活動を通して、Rainforestさん達はリサイクル材料を使うことがゴミを減らし、資源を大切に使うことにつながることを、年下のお友だちにも伝えることが出来ました。
The Star Festival (Tanabata) is about star-crossed lovers, Altair and Vega. According to legend, the lovers are separated by the Milky Way and can only meet on one night a year. To celebrate this event, we made a Tanabata craft. Our young ones made dolls using origami paper and paint to create a galaxy. They also cut paper to make Milkey Way between the dolls.
「なぜ、七夕に笹飾りをするの？」という紙芝居を読んで、笹飾りをする由来について学びました。子ども達はお話に登場した織姫や彦星、2人が住んでいる銀河や二人を引き裂く天の川を作って、七夕の制作をしました。絵具の付いた筆をトントンと叩いて銀河を作り、折り紙を使って織姫、彦星、天の川も丁寧に折って作りました。紙芝居の絵を見せると、人形の着物に絵を描いて装飾したり、きれいな羽衣もリユース用紙を使って作る子もいました。さすが年長さん！とても素敵な七夕飾りが出来ましたね。
For our phonics lesson, we made magic “e” wands. The students cut out the magic “e” stars and connected them to the words to create new sounds, and the magic continued as they read them one by one.
フォニックスレッスンでは、マジック”e “の杖を作りました。子ども達はマジック “e “の星を切り抜き、それを単語につなげて新しい音を作り、一つ一つ読んでいくうちに魔法は続きました。
