We in the Savanna Class, together with all campuses, are super excited for BonBon this weekend! We’ve been practicing the steps together and even came up with a new chant for the parade. We just can’t wait to join the festival! But before the big day, back in the classroom, our inquiry continues to deepen as we learn more about the people in our community.
サバンナクラスでは、他のキャンパスのみんなと一緒に、今週末のぼんぼんをとても楽しみにしています！みんなで踊りの練習をしたり、パレードに向けて新しいかけ声も考えたりして、ワクワクが止まりません。当日が待ちきれない気持ちでいっぱいです！
そしてお祭りを前に、クラスでは「わたしたちのまわりの人たち」についての探究もさらに深まっています。地域の人たちのことをもっと知ろうと、毎日いろいろなことを学んでいます。
This week, aside from the garbage collector, we talked about two more community helpers. These helpers are quite unique—you won’t find them in hospitals or grocery stores. They don’t cure sickness, but they do bring joy to the community, which is just as important!
今週は、ごみ収集員さんのお話に加えて、さらに2人のコミュニティヘルパーについても学びました。この2人は少しユニークで、病院やスーパーでは見かけません。病気を治すことはしませんが、地域のみんなに「よろこび」や「たのしさ」を届けてくれる、大切なお仕事をしている人たちです！
Our first guest this week was one of our students’ moms. We were surprised to learn that before becoming a nurse, she was a singer! She told us how she used her beautiful voice and musical talent to help others. We learned that one secret to being a good singer is breathing! We practiced breathing exercises and sang with dynamics—making both big and soft sounds with our voices. It was such a fun way to experience how singers can make people happy and uplift the community.
今週最初のゲストは、ある生徒のお母さんでした。看護師になる前は歌手をされていたと聞いて、みんなびっくり！美しい歌声と音楽の才能で人を助けてきたお話をしてくださいました。歌が上手になる秘訣のひとつは「呼吸」だと教わり、呼吸法の練習をしたり、大きな声と小さな声で歌ってみたりしました。歌手が人々に喜びを届け、地域を元気にする様子を、みんなで楽しく体験することができました。
Speaking of bringing happiness, our next community helper was also a performer—though not a singer or actor. She’s a cultural performer! One of our students’ moms teaches Samurai Katana sword skills. She presented to both Shooting Star and Savanna classes and showed us how she shares Japanese culture with others. She introduced us to the tools she uses to entertain and educate guests about Japanese traditions. It was exciting and inspiring to see a performer/tour guide in action!
「人に喜びを届ける」という意味では、次に紹介してくれたコミュニティヘルパーも、ある意味“パフォーマー”でした。でも歌手でも俳優でもなく、「文化パフォーマー」です！ある生徒のお母さんで、侍の刀の技を教えている方です。シューティングスタークラスとサバンナクラスの両方で発表してくださり、日本の文化をどうやって伝えているのかを紹介してくれました。使っている道具を見せてくれたり、外国の方に日本の伝統をどのように楽しく伝えているかをお話してくださいました。実際にパフォーマンスやガイドをしている様子を知ることができて、ワクワクするような、心に残る体験になりました。
It’s been a busy week, but one full of learning and excitement!
今週はとてもにぎやかで、学びとワクワクがたくさん詰まった1週間になりました！
