Hello everyone and welcome back to Shooting Star’s blog! We hope everybody is staying cool and hydrated in this hot weather.

Shooting Star students were so delighted to be able to meet two of our wonderful community helpers. It was such a great opportunity to hear and learn from them in person because students could get first hand information from our professional helpers.

Last Thursday, we met performers for tourists/tour guides who showed and taught us how to use a sword. Their job helps tourists in Matsumoto understand and enjoy Japanese culture. Mr. Igor and Ms. Richine wore a kimono and learned how to hold a sword in front of everyone. Shooting Star and Savannah students were so thrilled when it’s their turn to act as knights as they practiced using sponge swords. One student  asked, “Why do they wear that outfit (hakama)?” We learned that the hakama has a belt where a sword can be placed.

暑い日が続いていますが、皆さんが水分補給をしっかりして、元気に過ごされていることを願っています。Shooting Starの子どもたちは、すばらしいコミュニティヘルパーのお二人にお会いすることができ、とても嬉しそうでした。
専門家の方々から直接お話を聞き、学ぶことができる貴重な機会となり、子どもたちにとっても大変有意義な体験となりました。

先週の木曜日、私たちは観光客向けのパフォーマー／ツアーガイドの方々にお会いしました。
観光に来た人々が松本の日本文化を理解し、楽しめるようにサポートするお仕事をされています。Mr. IgorとMs. Richineが着物を着て、みんなの前で刀の持ち方を学びました。
そのあと、Shooting StarクラスとSavannahクラスの子どもたちが、スポンジの剣を使って侍のようにふるまう体験をし、自分の番が来るのをとても楽しみにしていました。

お友達のひとりが「どうしてその服（袴）を着てるの？」と質問しました。
その時、袴には刀を差すための帯があることをみんなで学びました。

On Wednesday, we went to the library. Who works in the library? Librarians are the community helpers who work in the library to help people find books, learn how to use the library, and keep the library organized. One of them is a Shooting Star student’s mom who talked about her job and conducted an awesome storytelling for us. We enjoyed listening to stories about community helpers, singing songs, and playing ice cream activity.

水曜日には図書館へ見学に行きました。
図書館では誰が働いているのでしょう？

**図書館司書（ライブラリアン）**は、図書館で働くコミュニティヘルパーです。
本を探すお手伝いをしたり、図書館の使い方を教えてくれたり、館内を整理整頓してくれたりします。その中のお一人は、なんとShooting Starクラスの子どものお母さまで、図書館でのお仕事についてお話してくれたうえに、すてきなお話し会も開催してくださいました。

私たちは、コミュニティヘルパーに関するお話を聞いたり、歌を歌ったり、アイスクリームのアクティビティをしたりして、とても楽しい時間を過ごしました。

Shooting Star students really had fun and learned a lot from these wonderful experiences. Thank you so much to our generous community helpers who helped us understand their jobs. We were able to explore lots of community helpers inside and outside of the school. As an assessment, we played the Community Helpers Guess Who game and everyone was able to answer the questions correctly.

We planned to go to Mr. Koyama’s farm to learn about his job on Thursday, but unfortunately it was rainy and we had to postpone it. Since long holidays are coming next week and we’ll be busy the next few weeks, we are planning to do it in September after the Sports Festival.

Shooting Starの子どもたちは、これらの素晴らしい体験を通してたくさん学び、とても楽しい時間を過ごしました。
お仕事について教えてくださった、心優しいコミュニティヘルパーの皆さん、本当にありがとうございました。クラスの中でも外でも、さまざまなコミュニティヘルパーについて学ぶことができました。
学びのまとめとして「コミュニティヘルパー・だれでしょう？ゲーム（Guess Who）」を行い、みんなが正しく答えることができました！

木曜日には小山さんの畑を訪れて、お仕事について学ぶ予定でしたが、あいにくの雨で延期となってしまいました。
来週から長期休みが始まり、その後も行事が続くため、スポーツフェスティバル後の9月に行く予定です。

Speaking of the Sports Festival, Shooting Star students are having fun practicing their para-balloon performance. Everyone is so eager to practice and do better. They try to remember their positions and the things they have to make using para-balloon.

In our phonics lesson, we finished learning about /et/ and /en/ CVC words. We enjoyed playing CVC words fishing activity in the pool and making CVC words using our playdough. Writing lowercase letters i and j was a piece of cake for Shooting Star students. Very easy!

さて、その運動会ですが、Shooting Starの子どもたちはパラバルーンの練習をとても楽しんでいます！
みんなやる気いっぱいで、もっと上手になろうと一生懸命取り組んでいます。自分の立ち位置や、パラバルーンで作る動きを覚えようと頑張っています。

フォニックスのレッスンでは、**/et/と/en/**で終わるCVCワードの学習を終えました。
プールで「CVCワード・フィッシング（釣り）ゲーム」をしたり、粘土を使ってCVCワードを作ったりして、楽しく学びました。

小文字の i と j の書き方もばっちり！Shooting Starの子どもたちにとってはとても簡単でしたよ！✨

It’s harvest time again! This week, we harvested the cherry tomatoes in the garden. The first harvest, each student picked one tomato and we had a total of 18 tomatoes. The second harvest, we were so happy because we got 50 pieces of tomatoes. Everybody enjoyed eating them during lunch!

また収穫の季節がやってきました！
今週は、園庭のミニトマトを収穫しました。最初の収穫では、子どもたちが一人ひとつずつトマトを摘み、全部で18個収穫できました。
2回目の収穫では、なんと50個もとれて、みんなとっても嬉しそうでした！ランチの時間にみんなでおいしくいただきました♪
