This week students watched some animals who live at the zoo, during feeding time. What do they eat? Some animals eat meat, some eat vegetables and others, like us, eat both! Zookeepers help feed animals so that people can watch them and learn a lot.  Then animals pretended to be Zookeepers and thought about what to feed their lion, rabbit, pig, monkey and giraffe!

今週、子どもたちは動物園の動物たちのごはんの時間について考えました。
「何を食べるのかな？」肉を食べる動物もいれば、野菜を食べる動物もいて、私たちと同じように両方食べる動物もいることに気づきました。
動物園の飼育員さんは、みんなが動物を見てたくさん学べるように、餌やりを手伝います。子どもたちは飼育員さんになりきって、ライオンやうさぎ、ぶた、さる、そしてキリンに何をあげようかな？と考えました。

People and animals help each other, and all the animals are lined up at the trough and ready to eat!  Waterfall students filled their pet planters with soil and some seeds. They are excited to see what grows as they care for their pets with food, water and  sunshine!

動物たちがえさ場に並ぶように、ウォーターフォールのお友だちは自分のペットプランターに土と種を入れてお世話をスタートしました。お水や太陽の光をあげながら、これからどんなふうに育っていくのか、とても楽しみにしています。

Give a hug to a ladybug! Waterfall students noticed some little red insects with black dots in the garden after making some cute ladybugs of their own. How many spots does it have? -and- Is it the same or different?  Students practiced counting and matching the same number of dots and spots on each side of the ladybug’s body.

てんとう虫の背中には「いくつ点があるかな？」、それは左右で「同じかな？ちがうかな？」と、体の両側に同じ数の点があるかを確かめたりしながら、ひとりひとりてんとう虫を作りました。触覚や目を貼って、かわいいてんとう虫が出来ましたよ。楽しく数について学ぶことができました。園庭では実際に本物のてんとう虫を捕まえて観察しましたよ。

The Sport’s Day Festival would not be complete without festive decorations in honor of the Hungry Caterpillar theme that Waterfall students have proudly made to display for their performance.

そして、スポーツフェスティバルに欠かせないのが、ウォーターフォールの子どもたちが心をこめて作った『はらぺこあおむし』をテーマにしたすてきな飾りです。本番での発表を彩ってくれることでしょう！
