Nagano Aurora: Exploring feelings, one picture at a time! ( September 29th- October 3rd)

Hello everyone! Here comes October! It`s getting colder gradually, and October means Halloween is fast approaching! As we can see all around, Halloween decorations have started, and we are all excited about what we want to wear to the Halloween event. The Aurora class had a lot of fun activities this week!

みなさん、こんにちは！10月がやってきました！だんだん寒くなってきて、10月といえばハロウィンが間近に迫っていますね！周りを見渡すと、ハロウィンの飾り付けが始まっていて、みんなハロウィンのイベントで何を着ようかワクワクしています。オーロラクラスでは今週も楽しい活動がたくさんありました！

We have started Unit 3: How We Express Ourselves, where we are exploring the idea that Feelings can be expressed and managed through art. Our first Line of Inquiry focuses on learning about the different types of feelings. To tune in, we participated in a Gallery walk. They walked around the classroom, looked closely at different pictures, and shared their observations about what they saw and how the images might make them feel. This activity encouraged curiosity, discussion, and reflection as we began our new unit together.

ユニット３「自分を表現する方法」を開始しました。ここでは、感情を芸術を通じて表現し、管理できるという考えを探求しています。最初の探究テーマでは、様々な感情の種類について学びます。導入として「ギャラリーウォーク」を実施しました。オーロラさんたちは教室内を歩き回り、様々な絵をじっくり観察し、見たものやその絵が呼び起こす感情について意見を共有しました。この活動は、新たなユニットを始めるにあたり、好奇心や議論、内省を促すものとなりました。

We also enjoyed making a fun and colorful Halloween craft! We were excited to design our own spooky cup creations—some were cute, some were scary, and all were unique. It was wonderful to see them talking with each other, sharing ideas, and deciding together how to make their cups look just the way they imagined.

楽しいカラフルなハロウィン工作も楽しみました！自分だけのスプーキーなカップをデザインするのはワクワクしました——可愛いものもあれば怖いものもあり、どれもユニークでした。子どもたちが話し合い、アイデアを共有し、思い描いた通りのカップを作る方法を一緒に決めていく様子を見るのは素晴らしいことでした。

Even with our busy daily schedule, we are grateful to have time to play outside in the playground. The children truly enjoyed the chance to use their energy, have fun, and make the most of the fresh air together.

忙しい毎日の中でも、遊び場で外遊びができる時間を持てることはありがたいことです。子どもたちは、思い切り体を動かし、楽しみ、新鮮な空気を存分に味わう機会を心から楽しんでいました。

In our Dance lesson, we kicked things off with lively warm-up exercises before diving into the rhythm of new songs. This week, we splashed into a brand-new routine—“Under the Sea”! The children waved their little hands like swaying seaweed and moved gracefully as if they were ocean creatures dancing together. Some steps were a little tricky—especially for the boys—but that didn’t stop the fun! With lots of smiles, laughter, and energy, everyone gave their best and brought the underwater dance to life.

ダンスレッスンでは、活気あふれるウォームアップでスタートし、新しい曲のリズムに挑戦しました。今週は「アンダー・ザ・シー」という全く新しいルーティンに飛び込みました！オーロラさんたちは小さな手を揺れる海藻のように振り、まるで海の生き物たちが一緒に踊っているかのように優雅に動きました。特に男の子たちには少し難しいステップもありましたが、楽しさは止まりません！笑顔と笑い声、そしてエネルギーに満ちた中で、みんながベストを尽くし、海底のダンスを生き生きと表現しました。
