The Savanna Class is on board for a new challenge! Time really flies, especially when you’re having fun. It feels like just yesterday when the Savanna students started learning to blend letter sounds and read CVC words. They truly love challenging themselves! Although reading can be tricky at times, they never give up. サバンナクラスの子どもたちは、新しいチャレンジに意欲的に取り組んでいます！楽しい時間はあっという間ですね。まるで昨日のことのように、子どもたちが英語の音を組み合わせて CVC ワードを読み始めた頃を思い出します。読みに少し苦戦することもありますが、子どもたちは決してあきらめません。
Alongside practicing CVC words, the children have also been learning sight words — recognizing them at a glance. Our fun songs and dances have helped boost their enthusiasm and made memorizing easier. CVCワードの練習と並行して、「サイトワード（よく使われる単語）」も一目で読めるよう、歌やダンスを交えながら楽しく練習しています。先週は、CVCワードとサイトワードを組み合わせて短い文章を読むことに挑戦しました。ゆっくり少しずつでも文章を読めるようになり、子どもたちの達成感にあふれた笑顔が見られました。
Last week, we began putting sight words and CVC words together to read full sentences. The feeling of accomplishment was so evident in each student’s face! This week, we introduced new sentences and included simple comprehension questions to check their understanding. This helps prepare them for next year’s RAZ book reading tests when they move up to Rainforest Class. 今週は新しい文を使って、「これは何？」「どんな大きさ？」「それは何色？」と読んだ後に簡単な質問にも答える練習をしています。これは内容理解の力を確認し、来年レインフォレストクラスで挑戦する RAZ book を読むための準備です。
We’re all very excited to see them reading whole books — while still having fun! 子どもたちが楽しみながら1冊の本を読めるようになる日が待ち遠しいです！
Back in the classroom, the children painted the living things they made with paper playdough, recalling what they saw during our trip to Gojo and in their surroundings. They are now experts at identifying living and non-living things! Their conceptual understanding really shines through their comments and explanations during discussions. クラスでは、五常への遠足で見つけた「お気に入りの生き物」を紙粘土で作り、色付けしました。
「生きているもの」と「生きていないもの」の違いについても理解が深まり、話し合いの中でその理解を自分の言葉で説明できるようになってきています。
We’ve also started practicing for our Winter Show performance. We hope you can help your children memorize their lines and deliver them confidently on stage. The Savanna students are natural performers — they love to sing, dance, and act! We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been preparing. また、ウインターショーに向けての練習も始まりました！セリフや振り付けを覚えて、自信をもってステージで披露できるよう、イメージを膨らませながら練習に取り組んでいます。サバンナさんたちは本当に表現が大好き！歌って、踊って、演じることを楽しんでいます。皆さんにお見せできる日が今からとても楽しみです！
The gym lesson was fun too!
The Savanna class is growing up so quickly! Right now, they are practicing how to do a proper neck roll/tumble. It’s definitely challenging, but instead of feeling scared, they get even more excited to try it. Their enthusiasm and confidence truly shine through!
サバンナクラスの子どもたちは本当に成長してきていて、今は首で上手に今週のジムレッスンは前転。少し難しい技ですが、怖がるどころか「やってみたい！」という気持ちが強く、みんな意欲いっぱいで挑戦しています。
