What a Busy Week! 🚆❄️
What a busy week we had—full of learning and fun!
We started the week with our swimming open day on Monday. It was wonderful to have mums and dads join us and see just how far the children have come. Swimming is such an important life skill, and it’s a great way for us to keep our bodies healthy too!
なんて充実した一週間だったでしょう！🚆❄️
学びと楽しさにあふれた、本当に忙しい一週間でした！
月曜日は水泳のOpen Dayで一週間をスタート。保護者の皆様にご参加いただき、子どもたちの成長ぶりを実際にご覧いただけたのは素晴らしいことでした。水泳は大切なライフスキルであり、体を健康に保つ素晴らしい方法でもあります！
On Monday and Tuesday, we explored different types of transport and how transport has changed over time. We discovered a bike from the past called a Penny Farthing (with one very big wheel!), learned about steam trains and steam ships, looked at cars from long ago, and even saw the very first aeroplane. We compared and sorted past and present transport and learned that modern transport can travel faster and further—and is much safer!
月曜日と火曜日、私たちは様々な交通手段と、時代とともに交通がどのように変化してきたかを学びました。昔使われていたペニーファージングと呼ばれる自転車（片方の車輪が非常に大きい！）を発見し、蒸気機関車や蒸気船について学び、昔の自動車を見て、なんと最初の飛行機まで目にしました。過去と現在の交通手段を比較し分類しながら、現代の交通手段はより速く、より遠くまで移動でき、そしてずっと安全であることを学びました！
From Wednesday, we began role-playing train station situations. The children practised buying tickets, and because they loved it so much, we expanded our role-play area! We made wallets, cut out money, added a station coffee shop, set up a platform, and even had numbered seats.
水曜日からは、駅での状況を想定したロールプレイを始めました。子どもたちは切符を買う練習をし、とても気に入ったので、ロールプレイエリアを拡大しました！お財布を作り、お金を切り抜き、駅のカフェを追加し、ホームを設置し、番号付きの座席まで用意しました。
On Friday, we focused on Japanese yen. The children cut out toy yen and received new tickets so they could practise paying in yen (we had been using British pounds earlier). They carefully checked ticket prices—Tokyo or Osaka? One way or round trip?—to make sure they paid the correct amount.
金曜日には日本円に焦点を当てました。子どもたちはおもちゃの円札を切り取り、新しいチケットを受け取りました。これにより円での支払いを練習できるようになりました（以前は英ポンドを使用していました）。チケットの価格を注意深く確認しました——東京行きか大阪行きか？片道か往復か？——正しい金額を支払うためです。
In maths, we have been working hard on:
- Addition to 10
- Place value (decomposing numbers 10–20 into tens and ones)
- Exploring different representations of numbers from 10–20
算数では、以下のことに一生懸命取り組んでいます：
10までの足し算
位取り（10～20の数字を十の位と一の位に分解する）
10～20の数字の様々な表現方法の探求
And to top it all off, we were lucky enough to enjoy some snow play too! ❄️
What a fantastic week of learning!
