Milky Way：オープンデーで伝える、私たちの学びの旅（2月16日〜20日）

Hello everyone! Welcome to our blog. The highlight of our week was the School Open Day and the Tennis Open Day. We all enjoyed showing our parents how we begin our days at school and presenting the work we completed at home about our dream jobs.The children practised very hard to prepare for their presentations, and it truly showed,they delivered them wonderfully!Thank you for helping them complete their homework and for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend the School Open Day.

みなさん、こんにちは。
今週のハイライトは、スクール・オープンデーとテニス・オープンデーでした。子どもたちは、園での一日の始まりの様子を保護者の皆さまに見ていただいたり、「将来なりたい仕事」についておうちで取り組んでもらった課題を発表したりしました。発表に向けて、子どもたちは一生懸命練習を重ね、その成果がしっかりと表れていました。どの発表もとても素晴らしいものでした。また、宿題へのご協力や、お忙しい中スクール・オープンデーにご参加いただき、本当にありがとうございました。

For Japanese inquiry time, they learned how to tell time. This is a basic life skill they will need to help them navigate elementary school life.

日本語探究の時間では、時間の読み方を学びました。これは、小学校生活を送るうえで必要となる、基本的な生活スキルのひとつです。

The week was a very busy one for us. We had two field trips: one to an elementary school and another to a high school. At the elementary school, the students observed a Grade 1 mathematics lesson. They were all very impressed by how independent the students were and how nicely they sat and listened to the teacher. When the lesson was over, two students went to the front of the classroom and led the whole class in announcing that the lesson was over and thanking the teacher. Someone remarked, “Oh, they also have line leaders like us!” After the mathematics lesson, they helped us make byun byun tops and taught us how to play with them. They also bid us farewell in a very energetic and warm manner.

今週は、とても忙しい一週間となりました。小学校と高校への、2回の社会科見学がありました。
小学校では、1年生の算数の授業を見学しました。子どもたちは、小学生がとても自立していて、姿勢よく座り、先生の話をしっかり聞いている様子に感心していました。授業の最後には、2人の児童が教室の前に出て、「授業が終わりました。ありがとうございました」とクラス全員を代表して挨拶をしてくれました。その様子を見て、「あっ、小学生にも私たちと同じラインリーダーがいるね！」という声も聞かれました。算数の授業の後は、「びゅんびゅんごま」のプレゼントがあり、お兄さんお姉さんのクーピーを借りて、好きな絵を描き、一緒に遊びました。帰り際には、元気いっぱい温かく見送ってくれ、子どもたちにとって心に残る交流の時間となりました。

The Learner Profiles are not meant to be complicated. They are not only for school,they also apply to everyday life at home.For example, does your daughter help feed her younger sibling? If so, she is being caring because she shows concern for others.When your son faces a problem at home, does he try to solve it on his own before asking for help? If so, he is being a thinker, because he is able to analyze the situation and decide what to do.The Learner Profiles are simply ways to describe the positive attitudes and skills children use every day, both at school and at home.

ラーナープロファイルは、決して難しいものではありません。学校だけのものではなく、家庭での毎日の生活にも当てはまる考え方です。たとえば、お子さんが年下のきょうだいのお世話を手伝っているとしたら、それは「思いやりのある人（Caring）」として、他者を大切にする姿を示しています。また、お子さんが家で何か問題に直面したとき、すぐに助けを求める前に「どうしたらいいかな？」と自分で考えてみる様子が見られたら、それは「考える人（Thinker）」です。状況を分析し、どう行動するかを判断しているからです。このように、ラーナープロファイルとは、子どもたちが学校でも家庭でも日々自然に使っている、前向きな態度やスキルを表す言葉なのです。
