Hello everyone,
This week, we proudly held our last Open Day of the school year, and it was truly a heartwarming experience. Our students were beyond excited to welcome their parents into the classroom and share a glimpse of their learning journey.
皆さんこんにちは。今週は、今年度最後のオープンデーを行うことができ、心温まる時間を過ごすことができました。子どもたちは大好きなお家の方々が来てくれるのをとても楽しみにしていました😊
We began the day with a short circle time, where we reviewed our transportation topic. The children were eager to share what they had learned and confidently answered questions about different types of transportation.
まずは朝の会で「transportation」の探究を振り返りました。子どもたちは今まで学んできたことを自信を持って発表することができました。
Next, students and parents worked together on a special craft activity. It was lovely to see families collaborating, exchanging ideas, and encouraging one another. The children designed their own dream means of transportation, letting their creativity and imagination shine.
そしてみんなが楽しみにしていた工作の時間。お家の方とアイデアを出し合って、協力しながら取り組む姿は素晴らしく、全体がとても集中して取り組んでいたのが印象的でした！子どもたちは自分で考えて乗り物をデザインし、創造力と想像力を存分に発揮していました✨
Each student then presented their creation in front of their families and friends using these sentence starters:
- This is a… (name of transportation)
- It has… (features of the transportation)
- We will go to… (place they want to go)
We were so proud of how confidently they spoke in front of an audience.
いよいよ発表の時間。お家の方と一緒に前に出て、作品を発表してくれました。「これは〇〇です」「これには〇〇があります」「私たちは〇〇に行きます」たくさんの人たちの前で自信を持って話す姿がとても素晴らしかったです✨
To end the day on a special note, the students surprised their families by coming to the front of the classroom and singing a heartfelt thank-you song. It was a beautiful moment filled with smiles, pride, and even a few happy tears.

Transportation helps people
As part of our transportation unit, the students participated in an engaging transportation and jobs matching activity. We asked the children to gather with their teams, where each group was given a different type of transportation. On the table, we placed shuffled job flashcards for them to explore.
The students worked collaboratively, discussing and consulting with one another to decide which job matched their assigned transportation. It was wonderful to see them sharing ideas, listening to each other, and thinking critically to make the right connections.
他の日には、交通手段とお仕事を結びつけるアクティビティをしました。グループを作って集まり、グループごとに色々な種類の交通手段を割り当てました。テーブルにはシャッフルしたお仕事のカードを置き、自由に探求できるようにしました。子どもたちは協力して話し合い、割り当てられた交通手段に合うお仕事を考えました。アイデアを共有して、お友達の意見に耳を傾け、正しい結びつきを見出す姿は素晴らしかったです。
Once they had agreed on their answers, each team came to the front of the classroom to present. They proudly showed their flashcards and explained their matches using complete sentences, such as:
- “This is an ambulance. It helps sick people.”
- “This is a fire truck. It puts out fires.”
- “This is a school bus. It takes children to school.”
- Tractors helps farmers
- Airplanes takes people far away.
Through this activity, the children strengthened their thinking skills and demonstrated their ability to connect their learning to real-life experiences. We were so proud of their teamwork, confidence, and growing understanding of how transportation support our daily lives.
お仕事カードを見つけると、前に出てカードを見せ、結びつきを発表しました。「これは救急車です。病気の人を助けます。」「これは消防車です。火を消します。」「これはスクールバスです。子どもたちを学校に連れて行きます。」「トラクターは農家を手伝います。」「飛行機は人を遠くへ連れて行きます。」
この活動を通して、子どもたちは考える力を育み、学んだことを実生活での体験と結びつける力を見せてくれました。チームワーク、自信、そして交通手段が日常生活を支える仕組みへの理解が深まっている様子を見ることができ、とても誇らしく思いました✨
Sending Love from Afar
Our students recently created beautiful stamped postcards to send to their loved ones who live far away. This meaningful activity allowed the children to experience how a postcard travels from the sender to its recipient.
Using paint and dandelion stamps as a cheerful sign of spring, the students carefully designed their postcards. Each creation was unique and full of color, reflecting both the season and their excitement. We will askeach family to write a special messages and bring them back to school next week.
The children were especially excited knowing that their postcards would truly be mailed. This activity will also teach us how transportation works, as students learn how mail is collected, sorted, and delivered from one place to another. Through this hands-on experience, they are developing a deeper understanding of communication, and the important role transportation plays in connecting people.
On a beautiful day, we will take a walk together to drop the postcards into the post office box. We are looking forward to seeing the students’ reactions as they experience the full journey of their learning.
ポストと郵便配達車の写真を見せ、これ何かな？はがきや手紙ってどうして必要？と考えてみました。「遠くにいるから！」そんな答えが返ってきました。遠くにいる人にはがきを届けてみようか？と声をかけるとみんな大喜び！早速はがきづくりに取り組みました。
暦では春を迎え、春を告げる明るい象徴としてタンポポの絵をデザインしました。トイレットペーパーの芯を細く丸めて先を切ったものと、プチプチを巻いたものをつかって、絵の具でスタンピングを楽しみました。紙の上でスタンプを指で丁寧に押さえて、絵の具がしっかりつくように気を付け、綿毛を表した白いスタンプでは、ぎゅっと押す動作を楽しそうにしていました。みんな丁寧に作っていましたよ😊
ここでもう一度質問。みんな、誰にこのカードを届けたい？「Mom！」「Dad！」・・・・・ガクッ！笑
ママやパパはお家にいるよね。じゃあハガキで送る必要あるかなぁ・・・？「あ、そっか！」という表情😊そして、「Grandma,！Grandpa！」や「Ski coach！」という声もありました。それぞれの作品は季節感とわくわくが詰まった仕上がりです。今週お家に持ち帰りますので、表面へのご記入にご協力をお願いします。裏面の余白に特別なメッセージを添えても構いません。来週スクールへお持ちください。
自分のポストカードが実際に届けられることを知って喜んでいたオーロラさん達。この活動は、絵葉書がみんなのもとから遠くの人へ届くまでの流れを子どもたち自身が体験でき、Transportationが人々をつなぐ輸送の重要な役割を担っていることを学ぶことができると思います。
晴れた日に、みんなで一緒に散歩しながら郵便ポストに投函しに行きます。学習の全過程を体験する子どもたちの反応を見るのが楽しみです✨
A Sunny Winter Day at the Park
One sunny day, we spent time together at the park. Although the sky was bright and beautiful, the weather was quite freezing! Despite the cold weather, our students cheerfully explored and enjoyed every moment outdoors.
Bundled up in their warm coats, hats, the children eagerly walked around the park, observing nature and playing together. Their laughter filled the air as they ran, explored, and shared discoveries with their friends.
晴れた日には、公園でたっぷり遊びました。空は明るくきれいでしたが、凍えるほど寒かったです！それでも子どもたちは寒さに負けず、屋外でのひとときを楽しく過ごしていました。走り回ったり、探検したり、公園をきれいにしよう！と熱心にゴミ拾いをしたり、銅像に掘られている文字に興味を持って友達と発見しあったり。たくさんの笑い声が公園に溢れていました😊
