It has been a calm and productive week in our class.

In phonics, we learned the “oy” sound. We watched a funny video book about a royal oyster on Phonics Monsters, which helped us hear and recognize the sound in different words. The children practiced some writing and even tried a word search. For some students, it was their first time doing this type of puzzle! We have also been reading and tracing short passages. Tracing helps strengthen the muscles in our hands that we use for writing, supporting the development of fine motor skills.

今週のクラスは穏やかで実り多い一週間でした。

フォニックスでは「oy」の音を取り上げました。フォニックスモンスターズの動画絵本で王様の牡蠣の面白い物語を視聴し、様々な単語の中でこの音を聞き分け認識する練習をしました。子どもたちは書き取り練習を行い、単語探しにも挑戦しました。この種のパズルを初めて体験する生徒もいました！また短い文章の読み上げとなぞり書きも行いました。なぞり書きは書く際に使う手の筋肉を鍛え、細かい運動能力の発達を支えます。

In maths, we began learning about measurement using non-standard units. We used our feet to explore the question: Is our classroom a square or a rectangle? The students carefully counted their steps as they measured the sides of the room. Next week we will continue measuring using our hands and math cubes to compare the length and height of different objects.

算数では、非標準単位を使った測定の学習を始めました。教室が正方形か長方形かを調べるため、足を使って探求しました。みんなで部屋の辺を測りながら、慎重に歩数を数えました。来週は手のひらや数学用キューブを使って測定を続け、様々な物体の長さや高さを比較します。

On March 3rd, Japan celebrates the Doll Festival, also known as Hinamatsuri. On Friday, the children made a special doll craft to celebrate. We also had our monthly birthday party, which is always a fun event for the students.

During the celebration we watched the Milky Way class perform their graduation dance to the song Dynamite by BTS. The children enjoyed watching the performance very much.

We also visited the park and enjoyed the warm weather after a couple of colder days. We went to the park a few times this week, and each trip was a good opportunity to practice road safety. The children remembered to stop, look, listen, and think before crossing the road. They waited until it was safe and put their hands up as they crossed.

3月3日はひな祭りを祝う日です。金曜日、子どもたちはこのお祝いに特別なひな人形工作を作りました。また、毎月恒例の誕生日会も行われ、生徒たちにとっていつも楽しいイベントとなっています。

お祝いの席では、ミルキーウェイクラスがBTSの「Dynamite」に合わせて卒業ダンスを披露してくれました。子どもたちはそのパフォーマンスをとても楽しんで観賞していました。

寒い日が数日続いた後、公園を訪れて暖かい天気を楽しんだのも良かったです。今週は何度か公園へ行き、その度に交通安全を学ぶ良い機会にもなりました。子どもたちは道路を渡る前に「止まる、見る、聞く、考える」ことを忘れなかったのです。安全を確認するまで待ち、手を上げて渡りました。

It has been a lovely week of learning, creativity, and outdoor fun.

学びと創造性、そしてアウトドアの楽しみにあふれた素敵な一週間でした。
