We watched a video about different groups of people and our roles in the community, whether we are with family, friends or at school. We continued discussing what roles we have in each group. Students sorted different pictures of people into groups then drew how each group looked to them. We learned that people who are the same age and in school are called students. People of different ages who live in a house together are family. People are friends if they are the same age and play together anywhere! Also, the students are curious about what parents do while they are in school! They sorted different groups of people wearing uniforms or in offices to learn about people at work.

Last week Shooting Star students decided that all of the groups are caring, so we looked at how people show that they care. We focused on understanding our roles and responsibilities as students and classmates, particularly when it comes to safety and emergencies. We carefully reviewed the rules that keep everyone safe, such as cleaning, listening, walking and following directions. Caring friends help each other!
先週、シューティングスタークラスの生徒たちは、すべてのグループが思いやりを持っているという結論に達しました。そこで、人々がどのように思いやりを示すのかを考察しました。生徒として、またクラスメートとして、特に安全や緊急時における役割と責任を理解することに重点を置きました。掃除、話を聞くこと、歩くこと、指示に従うことなど、みんなの安全を守るためのルールを丁寧に確認しました。思いやりのある友達は、お互いに助け合います！
We also practiced what to do during fires and especially earthquakes, since we had a recent shake-up. We talked about staying calm, listening to teachers, and knowing where to go for safety. This helped us see how important it is for everyone to be responsible and ready to help keep everyone safe during emergencies. Overall, this inquiry helped us understand the importance of working together, so we can feel ready and confident if an emergency happens.
最近地震があったこともあり、火災や特に地震発生時の行動についても練習しました。落ち着いて行動すること、先生の指示に従うこと、安全な避難場所を知っておくことなどについて話し合いました。この練習を通して、緊急時に皆が責任感を持って行動し、互いの安全を守るために協力することがいかに大切かを改めて認識しました。全体として、この探究学習を通して、緊急事態が発生した場合に備え、自信を持って行動できるよう、協力することの大切さを理解することができました。
We have one Birthday Boy celebrating his 5th birthday in Shooting Star for April. So, the whole school got together to ask some insightful questions about presents and cake, and then have a dance party! Happy Birthday!

Shooting Star students had fun practicing their dance and music skills and are starting to learn some new reading skills, too! So, they have brought together many of their skills to learn letter sounds and ABC order with Zoo Alphabet Yoga!
This week has been all about developing helpful, caring roles and fulfilling responsibilities together to support a fun and safe school community. We are encouraging students to bring the healthy habits home and build caring roles in their families, as well.
