This week, Savanna Class began LOI 2 under our UOI theme Who We Are: My Roles. Through a range of hands-on activities, discussions, and games, the children explored family roles and responsibilities while reflecting on how they can contribute and help at home.
今週、Savannaクラスでは、「Who We Are（私たちは誰なのか）」のテーマのもと、LOI 2「My Roles（自分の役割）」についての探究を始めました。子どもたちは、さまざまな体験活動や話し合い、ゲームを通して、家族の中での役割や責任について学び、自分たちが家庭でどのように役立ったり、お手伝いができるかを考えました。
One of the main activities was a fun game called Who’s Who? Students were divided into two groups: some held picture cards of family members, while others took on the role of players. The teacher read aloud role cards describing different family responsibilities such as cooking, cleaning, and caring for others. Students reflected on who in their own family performs each responsibility and moved to stand in front of the matching family member card.
探究を始めるにあたり、「Who’s Who?（だれの役割かな？）」という楽しいゲームをしました。子どもたちは２つのグループに分かれ、家族の絵カードを持つ役と、プレイヤー役になりました。先生が「お料理をする」「掃除をする」「家族のお世話をする」など、さまざまな家族の役割について書かれたカードを読み上げ、子どもたちは自分の家族の中でその役割をしている人を考え、当てはまる家族カードの前に移動しました。お家で誰がやっているだろう？と頭の中でよく考え、すばやく動いたり、戸惑っているお友達には一緒に考えたりしてあげながら、ゲームを楽しみました。
The children also completed a worksheet where they chose and cut out pictures showing things they do at home. Many students proudly shared that they help by washing dishes, doing laundry, and wiping the table. It was wonderful to hear how responsible and helpful they are becoming.
また、家庭で自分がしていることの絵を選んで切り貼りするワークシート活動にも取り組みました。多くの子どもたちが、「お皿洗いをしている」「洗濯を手伝っている」「テーブルを拭いている」など、自分のお手伝いについて誇らしそうに話してくれました。子どもたちが責任感を持ち、頼もしく成長している姿を見ることができ、とても嬉しく感じました。
Another meaningful activity was the Family Interview. Students interviewed two family members using questions such as “Do you cook?”, “Do you go to work?”, and “Do you clean the house?” This provided a valuable opportunity for families to learn together while helping children better understand the different roles within a household. Students then recorded their interview responses on a class chart. Next week, we will continue our inquiry by comparing how family responsibilities can be similar or different and discussing the importance of helping one another at home.
もう一つの大切な活動として、「Family Interview（家族インタビュー）」を行いました。子どもたちは、「料理をしますか？」「仕事に行きますか？」「家の掃除をしますか？」などの質問を使って、家族のうち2名にインタビューをしました。この活動を通して、家族みんなで学ぶ貴重な機会となり、子どもたちは家庭の中にあるさまざまな役割について、より深く理解することができました。その後、子どもたちはインタビューの結果を誇らしげにクラスチャートに記録しました。保護者の皆様には、インタビューへのご協力ありがとうございました。
来週は、家族の役割や責任には似ている点や違う点があることを比較しながら学び、家庭の中でお互いに助け合うことの大切さについて話し合っていく予定です。
In Phonics, the children continued practicing the Phonics Song. They have become very confident with letter sounds and now sing with energy and enthusiasm. During the lesson, students participated in a picture card game led by Ms. Fronie. They described images, identified beginning sounds, and searched the classroom for matching initial letters. The children worked collaboratively and confidently sounded out words such as “Bed, /b/ /b/ /b/!”
フォニックスでは、引き続き Phonics Song を歌いました。子どもたちはそれぞれの文字の音にとても自信を持てるようになり、元気いっぱいに楽しく歌っています。レッスンでは、Ms. Fronie のリードで絵カードゲームを行いました。子どもたちは絵を見て説明をしたり、単語の最初の音を考えたり、その音に合う文字を教室の中から探したりしました。「Bed, /b/ /b/ /b/!」のように、友達と協力しながら自信を持って音読する姿が見られました。
On Monday, the class visited the park and practiced walking in a line. They walked a little farther than previous weeks and showed great improvement in crossing the road safely and maintaining a neat line without gaps. Their cooperation and awareness continue to grow during outdoor routines.
月曜日には、公園へ行き、列になって歩く練習をしました。これまでの週より少し長い距離を歩きましたが、道路を安全に渡ったり、間を空けずにきれいな列を保ったりする姿に大きな成長が見られました。戸外活動の中でも、子どもたちの協力する力や安全への意識が着実に育っています。
On Thursday, an emergency handover/pick-up drill was conducted, where parents practiced the procedure for safely picking up their children in case of an emergency. This was also used as an opportunity to discuss about bear sighting incident and reinforce safety awareness with the children. Appreciation is extended to all parents for their participation and cooperation.
木曜日には、緊急時引き渡し訓練を実施しました。保護者の皆様には、緊急時に安全にお子さまを引き取るための手順を実際に練習していただきました。また、この機会にクマ出没事案についても子どもたちと話し合い、安全意識を高めました。ご参加・ご協力いただいた保護者の皆様、ありがとうございました。
