UOI: Finishing Our Pollution Dioramas
This week, the students completed their pollution dioramas after several days of planning, discussing, and creating together. Before starting, we discussed the importance of understanding a project’s purpose. The students reflected on the goal of their dioramas: to help others understand the effects of land, water, and air pollution and why it is important to care for the environment.
As they worked, the students showed the learner profile attributes of being Thinkers and Communicators. They shared ideas, solved problems, and worked together to decide how best to represent pollution in their scenes. We were very impressed by their creativity and teamwork. The finished dioramas are a wonderful representation of everything they have learned during this part of our Unit of Inquiry.
今週は、数日間かけて制作してきた汚染ジオラマを完成させました。制作を進める前に、「なぜこれを作るのか」「どんな目的があるのか」について話し合いました。子どもたちは、土地汚染・水質汚染・大気汚染について他の人に伝え、環境を大切にすることの大切さを知ってもらうためにジオラマを作っていることを確認しました。
制作中は、学習者像の「考える人（Thinker）」と「コミュニケーションができる人（Communicator）」を発揮しながら活動しました。友だちと相談し、アイデアを出し合い、協力しながら作品を完成させることができました。完成したジオラマは、これまでの学びがたくさん詰まった素晴らしい作品となりました。
Learning Together with Shooting Star
This week, Milky Way and Shooting Star enjoyed spending time learning together. During our combined activities, the students were divided into mixed teams, and the Milky Way students had opportunities to take on leadership roles and support their younger friends.
It was wonderful to see the students working together during music, outdoor play, and classroom activities. The Milky Way students showed kindness, responsibility, and confidence as they helped guide their teams. These experiences gave them valuable opportunities to develop their communication and leadership skills while building friendships across classes.
今週は、Milky WayクラスとShooting Starクラスで合同活動を行いました。混合チームに分かれて活動し、Milky Wayの子どもたちはリーダーとして年下のお友だちをサポートする機会がありました。
音楽や戸外遊び、さまざまな活動を一緒に行う中で、優しさや責任感、自信を持って行動する姿が見られました。年下のお友だちを助けながら活動することで、コミュニケーション力やリーダーシップを育む良い機会となりました。
June Birthday Celebration
This week, we joined the other classes to celebrate the students with June birthdays, including one of our own Milky Way friends. The students enjoyed singing, celebrating together, and making the birthday children feel special on their big day.
One of the most exciting parts of the celebration was our magic show! The Milky Way students had been practicing all week and were very excited to finally perform. They did a fantastic job and confidently took part in the show. The audience watched in amazement as water was magically transformed into fruit juice. There were lots of surprised faces, laughter, and excitement as everyone tried to figure out how the trick worked. We were very proud of how well the students performed and how bravely they shared their magic with the school community.
今週は、6月生まれのお友だちのお誕生日会に参加しました。Milky Wayクラスのお友だちもお祝いされ、みんなで歌を歌ったり、お祝いの言葉を伝えたりしながら、楽しい時間を過ごしました。
そして、お誕生日会の大きな見どころはマジックショーでした！Milky Wayクラスの子どもたちは、この日のために1週間練習を重ねてきました。本番では自信を持って発表し、とても素晴らしい演技を見せてくれました。なんと水が魔法でフルーツジュースに変わるという不思議なマジックに、観客のみんなも大興奮！驚いた表情や笑顔がたくさん見られ、「どうやったの？」と不思議そうに考える姿も見られました。練習の成果を発揮し、学校のみんなの前で堂々と発表できた子どもたちをとても誇りに思います。
