こんにちは！
Milky Wayクラスの、今週の楽しい学びの様子をお届けします！
今週もMilky Wayクラスは、とても忙しく、そして充実した一週間を過ごしました！Unit of Inquiryでは、コミュニケーションやコンフリクト（対立・意見の違い）について探究を深めたり、スポーツフェスティバルに向けたクラフトを協力して作ったり、お友だちのお誕生日をお祝いしたりしました。また、フォニックスやライティングのスキルを伸ばし、リレーの練習にも取り組みました。さらに、松本山雅の皆さんによるワクワクするサッカー教室にも参加しました！
さまざまな活動を通して、子どもたちは学びと学びをつなげ、自分の考えを伝え、学びを振り返りながら、私たちのラーニングコミュニティの中で、自信と思いやりを持ったメンバーとして成長しています。
Unit of Inquiry
今週は、探究の流れの一つである、
「コミュニケーションとコンフリクトがチームワークにどのような影響を与えるか」
について、引き続き探究しました。
まず、これまでの知識や経験を振り返るために、KWLチャートを見直しました。子どもたちがコミュニケーションやコンフリクトについて、すでにどのようなことを知っているのかを確認しました。
子どもたちは、自分自身の経験をもとに、さまざまな考えを共有してくれました。
「コミュニケーションって何だろう？」という質問に対して、子どもたちは、
- 「誰かが話して、ほかの人が聞くこと。」
- 「声を使ってコミュニケーションする。」
- 「お互いにアイデアを伝え合う。」
- 「はっきり話すこと。」
- 「優しい言葉を使うこと。」
と答えてくれました。
また、コンフリクトについては、
- 「ケンカすること。」
- 「お互いのことが好きじゃないこと。」
- 「おもちゃを取り合うこと。」
- 「お友だちが怒っているとき。」
など、これまでの経験から考えたことを共有してくれました。
これらの意見は、今回の探究を深めていくための素晴らしいスタートとなりました！
その後、コンフリクトにつながる可能性のあるさまざまな場面の写真を見ながら、さらに探究を深めました。子どもたちは一枚一枚の写真をよく観察し、「何が起きているのかな？」「どうして意見の違いやトラブルが起きたのかな？」と考え、お友だちと話し合いました。
さらに理解を深めるために、子どもたちはペアになり、一つの場面を選んでロールプレイ（役割演技）にも挑戦しました。
この活動を通して、子どもたちはさまざまな立場や視点に立って考えたり、パートナーとコミュニケーションを取ったり、お互いの話に耳を傾けたりする経験をしました。また、どのようにコンフリクトが起こるのか、そしてどのように解決できるのかについても考えました。
ロールプレイを通して、同じ状況でも、人によって感じ方や考え方が異なることについても学ぶ機会となりました。
これらの活動を通して、子どもたちはIBのLearner Profile（学習者像）も育んでいます。
Communicators（コミュニケーションができる人）として、自分の考えを分かりやすく伝えたり、パートナーの話をしっかり聞いたり、自分の気持ちや考えを言葉で表現したりすることを練習しています。
また、Open-minded（心を開く人）として、自分とは異なる意見に耳を傾けたり、さまざまな視点について考えたりしています。
そして、Reflective（振り返りができる人）として、自分の行動やコミュニケーションが周りの人にどのような影響を与えるのかを考え、コンフリクトが起きたときに「次はどうしたらよいだろう？」と振り返ることにも取り組んでいます。
ATLスキルにも毎日チャレンジ！
子どもたちは、Approaches to Learning（ATL）スキルも毎日意識して練習しています。特に、コミュニケーションスキル、思考スキル、社会性スキルに焦点を当てています。
毎朝、子どもたちは「今日はどのスキルを頑張りたいか」を自分で選びます。そして、一日の終わりのサークルタイムでは、自分が選んだスキルをどのように実践できたのかを振り返り、クラスのみんなと共有しています。
子どもたちの努力や成長は、特別なメダルでお祝いしています！
この活動を通して子どもたちは、学びは「できた・できなかった」という結果だけではなく、挑戦すること、努力すること、そして自分自身を学習者として成長させていくことも大切であることを学んでいます。
A Kick of Teamwork and Fun-Milky Way-August 17th-21st
Hello Everyone!
Welcome to another exciting week in the Milky Way Class!
This week was certainly a busy one; however, the Milky Way Class was always on the go! From exploring communication and conflict in our Unit of Inquiry to working collaboratively on our Sports Festival craft, celebrating a birthday, developing our phonics and writing skills, practicing for the relay, and experiencing an exciting soccer lesson with Yamaga, our learners were actively engaged in meaningful experiences throughout the week. Each activity gave our students opportunities to make connections, communicate their ideas, reflect on their learning, and grow as confident and caring members of our learning community.
In our Unit of Inquiry, we continued exploring our line of inquiry: How communication and conflict affect teamwork.
We revisited our KWL chart to activate our prior knowledge and find out what our learners already understood about communication and conflict. Our students shared thoughtful ideas based on their own experiences.
When asked what communication means, our young inquirers shared:
- “Communication means someone is talking and others are listening.”
- “We communicate with our voice.”
- “We share ideas with each other.”
- “Speaking clearly.”
- “Using kind words.”
They also shared their prior understanding of conflict:
- “Conflict means fighting.”
- “We don’t like each other.”
- “When we are taking toys from others.”
- “When a friend is angry.”
These responses gave us a wonderful starting point for our inquiry. We then went deeper by investigating pictures showing different situations that could lead to conflict. Students looked carefully at each picture, discussed what might be happening, and thought about what could have caused the disagreement.
To develop a deeper understanding, students worked in pairs and selected a scenario to act out through role play. Through this experience, they had opportunities to step into different perspectives, communicate with their partners, listen to one another, and think about how conflicts can happen and how they might be resolved. Role play also encouraged our students to consider how different people may feel in the same situation.
Throughout these experiences, our students were developing important Learner Profile attributes. As Communicators, they practiced expressing their ideas clearly, listening to their partners, and using words to share their feelings and thoughts. As Open-minded learners, they listened to different opinions and considered perspectives that may be different from their own. As Reflective learners, they thought about their actions, how their communication affects others, and what they could do differently when faced with a conflict.
Our students are also practicing their Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills every day. We focus particularly on communication, thinking, and social skills. Each morning, students choose a skill they would like to practice during the day. During our closing circle, they reflect on how they practiced their chosen skill and share their experiences with the class. Their effort and growth are celebrated with a special medal, reminding them that learning is not only about the result but also about trying their best and developing themselves as learners.
チームワークでつくる、宇宙の世界！
チームワークについての探究の一環として、Milky Wayクラスでは、スポーツフェスティバルに向けたみんなで協力して作る宇宙のクラフトにも取り組み始めました！
最初のチャレンジは、大きな白い紙を、宇宙をイメージした真っ暗な背景に変身させることです。みんなで協力して、白い紙全体を黒い絵の具で塗りました。
活動を始める前に、先生から「絵の具を使うときは、周りに気をつけながら、責任を持って取り組みましょう」とお話がありました。
子どもたちは先生のお話をしっかりと聞き、お互いにスペースを譲り合いながら活動しました。また、自分の順番を待ったり、絵の具が服や体につかないように気をつけたりと、素晴らしい自己管理の姿も見られました。
そして結果は……誰も体や服を汚すことなく、見事にペイントを完成させることができました！
これは、コミュニケーションを取り合い、お互いに協力し、一人ひとりが責任を持って行動することで、チームとして一つの目標を達成できるという素晴らしい例となりました。
私たちの宇宙プロジェクトは、まだまだ続きます！
来週は、宇宙にあるさまざまなものをイメージしながら、一人ひとりが絵を描き、それらを作品に加えていく予定です。みんなのアイデアがどのように集まり、一つの大きな共同作品になるのか、今からとても楽しみです！
As part of our ongoing exploration of teamwork, the Milky Way Class also began creating a collaborative space craft for our upcoming Sports Festival. Our first challenge was to transform a large piece of white paper into a dark space background by working together to paint it black.
Before beginning, the teacher reminded everyone to work carefully and responsibly with the paint. The students listened carefully, shared the space, and showed great self-control as they worked. And sure enough, they successfully completed the painting without getting paint on themselves! This was a wonderful example of how communication, cooperation, and responsibility can help a team achieve a common goal.
Our collaborative space project is not finished yet! Next week, we will continue working together by drawing and adding different things we might find in space. We are excited to see how everyone’s ideas will come together to create one big collaborative artwork.
お誕生日のお祝い！
今週は、特別なお誕生日のお祝いもありました！今回はMilky Wayクラスの先生たちが司会を担当し、今月お誕生日を迎えたMilky Wayのお友だちのお祝いをしました。
各クラスの先生たちは、お誕生日の特別な一日がさらに素敵な思い出になるよう、心のこもったメッセージをたくさん書いたバースデーカードを用意しました。
みんなで歌を歌ってお祝いをした後は、夏にちなんだ楽しいクイズゲームにも挑戦しました！
子どもたちは、一つひとつの質問をよく聞き、自分なりに答えを考えた後、「これだ！」と思う答えの場所に並びました。真剣に考える姿や、お友だちと一緒に楽しむ姿がたくさん見られました。
短い時間のお祝いでしたが、そこにはたくさんの笑顔とワクワク、そして笑い声があふれていました！
みんなで一緒にお祝いを楽しみ、お友だちの特別な日を温かく祝う姿を見ることができ、とても素敵な時間となりました。
This week, we also had a special birthday celebration! The Milky Way teachers had the opportunity to be the hosts, and one of our Milky Way learners celebrated his birthday this month. The teachers prepared a birthday card filled with heartfelt messages to make his special day even more memorable. After singing and celebrating together, the students enjoyed a fun quiz game all about summer. The students listened carefully to each question, thought about their answers, and then lined up at the answer they believed was correct. It was a short celebration, but there were plenty of smiles, excitement, and laughter! It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the celebration together and showing support for their friend.
ライティング＆フォニックス
ライティングとフォニックスでは、「ee」と「ea」の母音チーム（vowel team）に焦点を当てて学習しました。
スペリングでは、子どもたちは聞こえた音をよく聞き、一つひとつの単語をワークシートに書きました。テストが終わった後は、先生がボードに書いた正しい単語と自分の答えを見比べ、自分自身で答えを確認する時間も取りました。
これは、Principled（信念をもつ人）としての姿勢を練習する素晴らしい機会にもなりました。
単に「高い点数を取ること」だけを目標にするのではなく、自分の答えを正直に確認し、「自分がすでにできていること」や「これからもっと頑張れること」を見つけるようにしました。
正しくスペルを書くことができていたときには、「できた！」ととても誇らしそうな姿が見られました。一方で、間違いを見つけたときには、正しい単語をその横に丁寧に書き直しました。
この経験を通して、子どもたちは、間違いも学びの自然で大切な一部であることを学んでいます。
私たちは、正解したことだけでなく、間違いに気づき、それを受け止め、そこから学ぼうとする勇気も大切にしながら、みんなで成長をお祝いしました！
スポーツフェスティバルに向けて！
スポーツフェスティバルに向けた準備も引き続き行い、今週は体育館でリレーの練習をしました！
幸い、この日はそれほど暑くなく、子どもたちは快適に、そして楽しく練習に取り組むことができました。
リレーの練習では、安全に走ること、自分のレーンを守ること、お友だちを待つこと、そして次のランナーへリングを丁寧に渡すことを意識しました。
子どもたちは、合図にしっかり注意を向け、最後まで一生懸命走り、次のお友だちへスムーズにリングを渡せるよう練習しました。
そして何より大切なことは、リレーは速く走ることだけがすべてではなく、チームで協力することが大切であるということです。
私たちのチームの目標はとてもシンプルです！
「ベストを尽くすこと、楽しむこと、そしてお父さん・お母さんに誇りに思ってもらうこと！」
チーム全体の目標に加えて、一人ひとりが自分自身の目標も考え、それに向かって取り組んでいます。
個人の目標とチームの目標、その両方に取り組むことで、子どもたちは一人ひとりの努力が、チーム全体の成功につながっていることを少しずつ学んでいます。
みんなで力を合わせて、本番でも自分たちらしい最高のチームワークを見せてくれることを楽しみにしています！
For writing and phonics, we focused on ee and ea vowel team words. Students listened carefully to the sounds they heard and wrote the words on their worksheets during our spelling test. After completing the test, students had an opportunity to check their own work by comparing their answers with the correct words written on the board. This was an excellent opportunity to practice being Principled learners. Rather than simply focusing on getting a high score, students were encouraged to check their work honestly, recognize what they already knew, and identify areas where they could improve. Students were especially proud when they discovered that they had spelled a word correctly. When they found a mistake, they carefully wrote the correct word next to it. This helped them understand that mistakes are a natural and valuable part of learning. We celebrated not only correct answers but also the courage to recognize mistakes and learn from them.
We also continued preparing for our Sports Festival by practicing our relay in the gym. Fortunately, the weather was not too hot, which allowed us to enjoy our practice comfortably. During relay practice, students worked on running safely, staying in their lanes, waiting for their teammates, and passing the ring carefully to the next runner. They practiced paying attention to the signal, running with determination, and making a smooth handover to their teammate. Most importantly, they learned that a relay is not only about running fast, it is about working together as a team.
Our team goal is simple: Do our best, have fun, and make our parents proud!
Alongside our team goal, each student also worked toward their own individual goal. By working on both individual and team goals, our learners are discovering how each person’s effort contributes to the success of the whole team.
今週のハイライト！松本山雅のサッカー教室
今週のハイライトは、なんといってもRainforestクラスのお友だちと一緒に参加した、島内体育館での松本山雅のサッカー教室でした！レッスンが始まる前に、子どもたちは松本山雅の選手たちに元気にご挨拶をしました。選手たちは自己紹介をした後、子どもたちにチームワークの大切さについてお話をしてくださいました。子どもたちは選手たちのお話を真剣に聞きながら、これから始まるサッカー教室をとても楽しみにしている様子でした！
その後、子どもたちはピンクチームと黄色チームに分かれ、それぞれのサッカービブスを着用しました。準備が整うと、みんなすっかりサッカー選手のようで、とてもかっこいい姿でした！
まずは、さまざまな楽しいサッカー活動に挑戦しました。足を使ってボールをドリブルしながらゴールに向かって進む練習では、ボールが遠くへ行ってしまわないように、自分の近くでコントロールすることを意識しました。また、ボールを空中に投げ、手をたたいてからキャッチする活動にも挑戦しました！
チャレンジはさらにレベルアップ！ボールを上に投げた後、頭にタッチしたり、お腹の前で手をクロスしたりしてからボールをキャッチしました。
最後には、ボールを空中に投げ、足を使ってボールを止める練習にも挑戦！上手にボールを止めることができると、みんなで誇らしげに、「ヤマガ！」と声をそろえていました！
そして、いよいよ子どもたちが楽しみにしていた、ピンクチーム対イエローチームの試合です！子どもたちはボールを一生懸命追いかけ、お友だちと協力しながらゴールを目指しました。両チームとも見事にゴールを決めることができ、子どもたちの顔にはたくさんの笑顔と興奮があふれていました！
今回のサッカー教室を通して、子どもたちは、チームワークとは、ただ一緒に活動することだけではなく、お互いを応援すること、最後までベストを尽くすこと、そしてみんなで一緒に喜びを分かち合うことだということを、実際の体験を通して学ぶことができました。
Milky Wayクラスにとって、とても思い出に残る素晴らしい経験となりました。体を動かすことや遊び、そしてチームワークを通して、このような貴重な学びの機会を提供してくださった松本山雅の選手の皆さまに、心より感謝いたします！
The highlight of our week was definitely our Yamaga soccer lesson at the Shimauchi Gym together with the Rainforest Class! Before the lesson began, our students warmly greeted the Yamaga players. The players introduced themselves and talked with the children about the importance of teamwork. Our students listened attentively and were excited to learn from them. After the introduction, the students were given pink and yellow soccer uniforms. They looked ready for action! The students began with a variety of fun soccer activities. They practiced dribbling the ball with their feet and moving it toward the goal, learning to control the ball while keeping it close to them. They also practiced throwing the ball up into the air, clapping their hands, and catching it.
The challenges became even more exciting! Students threw the ball up, touched their heads, crossed their hands over their stomachs, and then caught the ball. Finally, they threw the ball up and practiced stopping the ball with their foot, proudly saying, “Yamaga!”
Then came the exciting moment everyone had been waiting for, the game between the pink team and the yellow team! The students were eager to chase the ball, work with their teammates, and try to score a goal. Both teams successfully scored, and the excitement could be seen on everyone’s faces. Our learners experienced firsthand that teamwork means encouraging one another, trying your best, and celebrating together. It was truly a memorable experience for the Milky Way Class, and we are very thankful to the Yamaga players for giving our students such a meaningful opportunity to learn through movement, play, and teamwork.
