This week in Savanna Class, we were busy preparing for our upcoming Sports Fest next Friday while continuing our exciting inquiry into small creatures. We spent several days preparing for Sports Fest, with some practices together with the other classes. We tried Shooting Balls with the white and red teams. Everyone was very competitive and eager to win, doing their best to shoot as many balls as they could! We also practiced lining up for the race, performance, and shooting ball team, as well as the counting and movements for our paraballoon performance. We focused on making enough space around the paraballoon, too. Everyone is improving day by day, and our performance is getting better with every practice!
スポーツフェスティバルに向けて準備中！ SV 8/31～9/4
今週のサバンナクラスでは、来週金曜日に行われるスポーツフェスティバルに向けた準備を進めながら、引き続き「小さな生き物」についての探究も楽しみました。
スポーツフェスティバルの練習は、他のクラスと合同練習をしたり、白チームと赤チームに分かれて、「玉入れ」の競技にも挑戦したりしました。「勝ちたい！」という気持ちで、一つでも多くボールを入れようと一生懸命頑張っていました！
また、かけっこやパフォーマンス、玉入れのチームごとに並ぶ練習や、パラバルーンの演技に向けて、掛け声に合わせたカウントや動きの練習もしました。パラバルーンでは、周りに十分なスペースを作ることも意識して練習しています。
みんな日に日に上達しており、練習を重ねるたびにパフォーマンスもどんどん良くなっています！
We also prepared self-portrait decorations for Sports Fest. Each student drew their face on a large piece of white paper. After practicing how to draw their faces and write their names much bigger than usual, they were finally able to create their portraits beautifully. They enjoyed imagining what their faces look like and drawing them happily. We are excited to show them to you on Sports Fest day!
スポーツフェスティバルの日のディスプレイとして、自画像も制作しました。子どもたちは大きな白い紙に、自分の顔を描き、名前も大きく書きました。いつもより大きく顔を描いたり、自分の名前を書いたりする方法を練習した後、いよいよ一人ひとりが素敵な自画像を完成させることができました。自分の顔はどんなふうに見えるのかな？と想像しながら、楽しそうに描いていました。
スポーツフェスティバル当日に、皆さんにお披露目できることを楽しみにしています！
Throughout our practices, the Savanna students showed great Communicator and Principled skills by listening carefully, remembering their positions, following directions, and working together as a team. We are so proud of their effort and perseverance!
練習を重ねる中で、サバンナさん達は、先生の話をよく聞き、自分の立ち位置を覚え、指示に従って動き、チームで協力することで、**「コミュニケーションが出来る人（Communicator）」と「正しい行動を選べる人（Principled）」**としての素晴らしい姿を見せてくれました。
みんなの努力と最後まであきらめずに頑張る姿を、とても誇りに思います！
Our Wonder Wall continued to inspire our Inquirers. We investigated questions such as “Why do centipedes have many legs?” and “Why do worms eat mud?” We watched videos together to help us find the answers and were excited to discover new things about these fascinating creatures.
To wrap up our inquiry into how small creatures grow, we explored the question, “What do small creatures need to live and grow?” through a worksheet. The children looked carefully at each picture and decided whether a small creature would need it, placing a check or cross in the box. We then discussed their answers together and shared our ideas about what small creatures need to survive and grow.
クラスの「ワンダーウォール」には、小さな生き物の探究を始めた頃に子ども達が疑問に感じたことが、たくさん貼り付けてあります。ワンダーウォールは、子どもたちの「探究する人（Inquirer）」としての好奇心を刺激してくれています。「なぜムカデにはたくさんの足があるの？」「なぜミミズは泥を食べるの？」などの疑問について、みんなで考えました。答えを見つけるために動画も一緒に見ながら、興味深い小さな生き物について新しい発見をすることを楽しみました。
「小さな生き物はどのように成長するのか」という探究のまとめとして、ワークシートを使って「小さな生き物が生きて成長するためには、何が必要なの？」という問いについて考えました。子どもたちは一つひとつの絵をよく見ながら、小さな生き物に必要なものかどうかを考え、必要だと思うものには〇、必要ではないと思うものには×をつけました。
その後、みんなで答えを確認しながら、小さな生き物が生きて成長するために何が必要なのかについて、それぞれの考えを共有しました。
During outdoor play, we spotted many dragonflies and butterflies flying around the school yard. We gently used our nets to catch a ladybug and a butterfly so we could observe them more closely. 🐞🦋
外遊びでは、園庭を飛び回るたくさんのトンボやチョウを見つけました。子どもたちは、トンボやチョウを優しく観察するために、網を使ってそっと捕まえ、近くでじっくり観察しました。🐞🦋 迷子になった毛虫をお家に帰してあげたり、「トゲトゲが付いている毛虫は触っちゃいけないよ。」など、サバンナさん達がこれまで学んだことをきちんと習得し、実践している姿も見ることができ嬉しく思いました。
In Music, we also listened to the sounds of crickets, grasshoppers, and other insects. The children excitedly recognized some of the sounds and said, “I’ve heard that sound before!”
ミュージックレッスンの時間には、コオロギやすず虫など、さまざまな秋の虫の鳴き声も聴きました。子どもたちは鳴き声を聞いて、「この声、前に聞いたことがある！」と嬉しそうに答えていました。
It was wonderful to see how our learning about small creatures continues to connect with the children’s everyday experiences. Our Savanna learners are becoming confident Inquirers and Thinkers as they ask questions, investigate, share their ideas, and make connections with the world around them. 🌱✨
小さな生き物についての学びが、子どもたちの日常の体験とつながっていく様子を見ることができ、とても嬉しく思いました。サバンナの子どもたちは、疑問を持ち、調べたり、考えを共有したり、身の回りの世界と学びを結びつけたりする中で、少しずつ自信を持って**「探究する人（Inquirer）」や「考える人（Thinker）」**へと成長しています。🌱✨
