みなさんこんにちは！ Hello Everyone,
Milky Wayでは、今週もとても充実した、ワクワクする1週間を過ごしました！
新しい音や単語を発見したり、心を込めたプレゼントを作ったり、シャインマスカットの収穫を楽しんだり、想像力を広げながら泥遊びをしたり、そしてスポーツフェスティバルに向けて準備をし、本番を無事に終えたりと、子どもたちはさまざまな活動を通して、探究し、創造し、コミュニケーションをとり、協力し、振り返るたくさんの機会を経験しました。
楽しい体験と意味のある学び、そして子どもたちの心に残る素敵な思い出がたくさん詰まった1週間となりました。
Phonics ～「th」のダイグラフを見つけよう！～
今週、私たちの小さな探究者たちは、「th」の子音ダイグラフについて学び、お友だちと一緒にその音を出す練習をしました。
音に少しずつ慣れてきたところで、今度は楽しいフィッシングゲームを通して、学んだことを実際に使ってみました！
子どもたちは順番に「魚釣り」をしながら、釣った絵カードを見て、その絵が表している単語をよく考えて声に出しました。
その単語の中に「th」の音が入っていたら池に入れ、入っていなかったら箱に入れるというルールで、みんなでゲームを楽しみました。
この遊びを通した活動の中で、子どもたちは**ATLのThinking Skills（思考スキル）**を使いながら、音を注意深く聞き、目標となる音を見つけ、音と単語をつなげて考え、見つけたことをもとに絵カードを分類しました。
「th」の子音ダイグラフを学んだだけでなく、新しい単語にも触れながら、考える力、聞く力、そして自分でよく考えて選択する力も少しずつ伸ばしていきました。
「この単語には『th』の音があるかな？」
そんな問いを大切にしながら、子どもたちは遊びを通して楽しく探究していました！
What a meaningful and exciting week it has been in Milky Way! From discovering new sounds and vocabulary to creating heartfelt gifts, harvesting Shine Muscat grapes, enjoying imaginative mud play, and preparing for and successfully completing our Sports Festival, our learners experienced many opportunities to explore, create, communicate, collaborate, and reflect. It was a wonderful week filled with joyful experiences, meaningful learning, and memories that our young learners will treasure.
Phonics: Discovering the “th” Digraph
This week, our young inquirers explored the “th” consonant digraph and practiced producing its sound together with their friends. After becoming familiar with the sound, they put their learning into action through an exciting fishing game!
Taking turns, students “fished” for picture cards and carefully said the word represented by each picture. If the word contained the “th” sound, they placed the picture in the pond. If it did not, they placed it in the bin.
This playful experience encouraged students to use their ATL Thinking Skills as they listened carefully, identified the target sound, made connections between sounds and words, and classified the pictures according to what they discovered. They were not only learning the “th” consonant digraph but also expanding their vocabulary and strengthening their ability to think, listen, and make thoughtful choices.
“Does this word have the ‘th’ sound?” became a meaningful question as our learners investigated through play!
敬老の日のクラフト ～心を込めて作ろう～
敬老の日のクラフトでは、子どもたちが大切な人への「大好き」「ありがとう」という気持ちを表現する、素敵な時間となりました。
子どもたちは、丁寧にアイスキャンディーの棒をつなぎ合わせて四角いフォトフレームを作り、カラフルなポンポンを飾り付けました。
そして先生が、子どもたちが胸の前で両手を使ってハートの形を作っている、とても可愛らしい写真をフレームに入れました。子どもたちの「大好き」という気持ちが伝わる、素敵な一枚です。
最後に、赤いハート型の画用紙に、「Thank you（ありがとう）」や「I love you（大好き）」などの心のこもったメッセージを書いて、特別なプレゼントを完成させました。
この活動を通して、子どもたちはLearner Profileの Caring（思いやりのある人） の姿を見せてくれました。
自分にとって大切な人のことを思い浮かべながら、感謝や愛情、そして「ありがとう」という気持ちを、自分なりの方法で表現しました。
シンプルなクラフト活動が、子どもたちの温かい気持ちを伝える、意味のある素敵な贈り物になったことを嬉しく思います。
Grandparents’ Craft: Creating with Care
Our Grandparents’ Craft activity was a beautiful opportunity for students to express their love and appreciation. Working carefully, students connected popsicle sticks together to create a square picture frame and decorated it with colorful pom-poms.
The teacher then added their lovely photo, capturing a precious moment of each child making a heart shape with their hands in front of their chest, a sweet symbol of love.
To complete their special gift, students wrote heartfelt messages such as “Thank you” and “I love you” on red heart-shaped construction paper.
Through this experience, our young learners demonstrated the Learner Profile attribute of Caring. They reflected on the important people in their lives and found a creative way to express gratitude, love, and appreciation. It was wonderful to see how a simple craft became a meaningful expression of their feelings.
今週のハイライト：シャインマスカットの収穫！
今週の一番のハイライトは、なんといってもぶどう園への訪問でした！
前回の訪問では、自分たちが収穫するシャインマスカットに一つひとつ袋をかけました。そしてついに、待ちに待った瞬間がやってきました。いよいよ収穫です！
ぶどう園に到着すると、ぶどう園を営んでいらっしゃる園児のお父さまとお母さまが、私たちを温かく迎えてくださいました。
ご挨拶をした後、子どもたちはワクワクしながらぶどう園の中を探検し、前回の訪問で自分たちが丁寧に袋をかけたシャインマスカットを探しました。
そして……ありました！
シャインマスカットは、収穫の準備ができていました！
一人ひとりが、新鮮なシャインマスカットを実際に収穫するという素敵な体験をすることができました。子どもたちは、ワクワクした気持ちと好奇心いっぱいの表情で、ぶどうを一房一房、大切に収穫しました。
自分の手で収穫したばかりの新鮮なシャインマスカットを手にした子どもたちの顔は、嬉しさと喜びでいっぱいでした。
今回の体験は、子どもたちが自然とのつながりを感じ、学びは教室の中だけで起こるものではないということを実感する、貴重な機会となりました。
ぶどう園を後にするときには、感謝の気持ちとたくさんの「ありがとう」を胸に、これからも心に残り続ける素敵な思い出を持ち帰ることができました。
そして、この特別な体験を楽しんだのはMilky Wayだけではありません。島内キャンパスのRainforestのお友だちも一緒に、ぶどうの収穫を楽しみました！
今回の体験は、子どもたちが自分の手で実際に経験することで、より深く心に残る学びになるということを、改めて感じさせてくれる素敵な機会となりました！
The Highlight of the Week: Shine Muscat Harvesting!
The highlight of our week was definitely our visit to the vineyard! After visiting previously to bag our Shine Muscat grapes, the exciting moment had finally arrived, it was time to harvest!
When we arrived at the vineyard, the parents of our students who own the vineyard warmly welcomed us. After our greetings, we excitedly explored the vineyard, searching for the Shine Muscat grapes that we had carefully bagged during our previous visit.
And yes, they were ready!
Each student had the wonderful opportunity to experience harvesting fresh Shine Muscat grapes. With excitement and curiosity, they carefully picked the grapes!
The children’s faces were filled with happiness and excitement as they held the fresh grapes they had harvested themselves. This experience provided a meaningful connection to the natural world and helped students understand that learning can happen beyond the classroom.
We left the vineyard with grateful hearts, happy “thank yous,” and a wonderful memory that will stay with us for a long time. This special experience was not only enjoyed by Milky Way but also by our friends from Rainforest at the Shimauchi Campus.
What a beautiful reminder that some of the most meaningful learning happens when children can experience it with their own hands!
泥んこ遊び ～想像力を広げて楽しもう！～
たくさんのワクワクする体験を楽しんだあとは、少しゆっくりと過ごし、ガーデンで泥遊びを思いきり楽しむ時間もありました。
泥遊びは、子どもたちが自由に探究し、創造し、想像力を広げることのできる、自由度の高い活動です。「これが正解」という答えはありません。何を作るのか、どうやって作るのか、そして泥をどんなものに変身させるのかを、子どもたち自身が自由に決めることができます。
泥をすくったり、混ぜたり、形を作ったり、いろいろな方法を試したりする中で、子どもたちは自然に泥の感触を楽しみながら、創造力、問題解決力、そして手先の器用さを育んでいました。
また、お友だちに自分のアイデアを伝えたり、作ったものを見せ合ったりしながら、一緒に遊ぶ楽しさも味わっていました。
時には、ちょっぴり汚れることも学びの一部です！
泥遊びを通して、子どもたちは自然そのものが素敵な学びの教材になること、そしてシンプルな素材も、想像力を使うことで無限の可能性に変わることを発見しました。
Mud Play: Creating with Imagination
After all the excitement, we also found time to slow down, relax, and simply enjoy the joy of playing in the mud at our garden.
Mud play provided an open-ended opportunity for students to explore, create, and use their imagination. With no single “right answer,” they could decide what to make, how to make it, and how to transform the mud into something from their imagination.
As they scooped, mixed, shaped, and experimented, students naturally engaged in sensory exploration while developing creativity, problem-solving skills, and fine-motor coordination. They also communicated their ideas with friends and shared their creations with one another.
Sometimes, learning looks like getting a little messy! Through mud play, our children discovered that nature itself can become a wonderful learning resource and that imagination can turn simple materials into endless possibilities.
Sports Festival ～Congratulations, Milky Way!～
なんて素晴らしいスポーツフェスティバルだったことでしょう！
何週間にもわたる練習や準備、そしてお友だちとのチームワークを重ね、ついにMilky Wayの子どもたちは、これまで学んできたことを実際の場で発揮する機会を迎えました。
Milky Wayのみんな、本当におめでとう！
かけっこやリレー、ゴースダンスでは、子どもたちがとても楽しそうに、そして自信を持って取り組む姿を見ることができました。また、玉入れでは、赤組・白組のどちらも最後まで一生懸命頑張る姿を見せてくれ、私たちもとても誇らしく思いました！
そして、子どもたちは競技だけでなく、スポーツフェスティバルの中でたくさんの大切な役割にも挑戦しました。
エクササイズダンスのリーダーとしてみんなを引っ張ったり、選手宣誓をしたり、プログラムのアナウンスをしたり、おうちの方々に元気いっぱい声援を送ったり、来場者ゲームのお手伝いをしたりと、一人ひとりが大切な役割を担いました。
一人ひとりの力が合わさることで、楽しく、心に残るスポーツフェスティバルを作り上げることができました。
一日を通して、子どもたちは自信やチームワークだけでなく、責任感、協力する力、そして最後まであきらめずに取り組む力も見せてくれました。
そして何より大切なのは、目標を達成するということは、ただ「一生懸命頑張る」だけではないということです。
そこに至るまでの過程を楽しみ、お友だちを支え合い、一緒に喜びを分かち合うこと。
子どもたちは、そんな大切なことも教えてくれました。
「Space」をテーマに取り組んできたMilky Wayの子どもたちは、まさにキラキラと輝いていました！
ただ目標を達成しただけではありません。練習から本番までのすべての経験を、ワクワクする気持ちや喜び、そして仲間と一緒に楽しむ素晴らしい気持ちでいっぱいにしてくれました。
そして、子どもたちをいつも温かく支え、励まし、スポーツフェスティバルにも元気いっぱい参加してくださった保護者の皆さまに、心より感謝申し上げます。
皆さまの応援と温かいサポート、そして一緒に楽しんでくださったことが、子どもたちにとってこの日をさらに特別なものにしてくれました。
改めて、Milky Wayのみんな、本当におめでとう！
みんなの頑張りと素晴らしい姿を、私たちは心から誇りに思います！
Sports Festival: Congratulations, Milky Way!
What an incredible Sports Festival it was! After weeks of practice, teamwork, and preparation, our Milky Way learners finally had the opportunity to put everything they had learned into action.
Congratulations, Milky Way, on your wonderful performances! You showed great enthusiasm and confidence during the races, relay, and gauze performance. We were also very proud of our Red and White teams for giving their best during the bean bag toss!
Our learners took on many important roles throughout the event. They confidently led the exercise dance, recited the Players’ Oath, made the program announcements, cheered enthusiastically for their parents, and helped with the visitors’ game. Each child contributed to making the Sports Festival a joyful and memorable experience.
Throughout the day, our learners demonstrated not only confidence and teamwork but also responsibility, cooperation, and determination. Most importantly, they showed us that achieving a goal is not only about doing our best—it is also about enjoying the journey, supporting our friends, and celebrating together.
With our “Space” theme, our Milky Way learners truly shone brightly! They did not simply achieve their goals; they embraced the entire experience with excitement, joy, and a wonderful spirit of togetherness.
A heartfelt thank you to all our parents for your wonderful support, encouragement, and enthusiastic participation. Your presence and involvement made the day even more special for our children.
Congratulations once again, Milky Way! You truly made us proud!

As we come to the end of this busy and memorable week, we hope our Milky Way learners enjoy a wonderful long holiday with their families.

Every experience becomes part of a child’s story—and this week, our Milky Way learners certainly created many wonderful stories to remember.
