This week has been very interesting, we practiced our loiterer drill to help the children understand the importance of staying safe and knowing what to do in an unsafe situation. The learners paid close attention to the instructions and participated responsibly throughout the practice. After the drill, we had a reflection session where the children discussed important safety steps to remember when approached by someone they do not know. They learned the importance of not going with strangers, not getting into a car with someone they do not know, shouting loudly for help, running away to a safe place, and informing a trusted adult or teacher. The children showed great awareness and understanding during our reflection.
今週は、不審者訓練を行い、安全に過ごすことの大切さや、危険な状況に遭遇したときにどう行動すればよいかについて学びました。子どもたちは先生の話をよく聞き、訓練にも真剣に取り組むことができました。訓練の後には振り返りの時間を設け、知らない人に声をかけられたときに、どのように行動することが大切なのかをみんなで確認しました。「知らない人について行かない」「知らない人の車に乗らない」「大きな声で助けを求める」「安全な場所へ逃げる」「信頼できる大人や先生に知らせる」など、自分の身を守るために大切な行動について学びました。振り返りの中でも、子どもたちは安全についてよく考え、自分の身を守るために必要なことをしっかりと理解している様子が見られました。
Two of our classmates turned 4 this month and celebrated their birthdays together this week. Before the birthday, one of them had always asked when it would take place. The long-awaited celebration was filled with excitement and joy! The children loved decorating a birthday cake on the wall by adding a strawberry using a straw blindfolded, singing the birthday song together and celebrating with a special birthday crown. It was a wonderful moment of friendship, happiness and making memories together.
今月は、クラスのお友だち2名が4歳のお誕生日を迎え、今週、一緒にお誕生日をお祝いしました。
お誕生日会を迎えるまで、「いつお誕生日会をするの？」と何度も楽しみにしていたお友だちもいて、待ちに待ったお祝いの日は、子どもたちの笑顔と喜びでいっぱいでした！子どもたちは、目隠しをしてストローを使い、壁に貼られたバースデーケーキにいちごを飾るゲームを楽しんだり、みんなでバースデーソングを歌ったりしました。そして、特別なバースデークラウンをかぶって、みんなでお祝いしました。お友だちと一緒に喜びを分かち合い、楽しい時間を過ごしながら、素敵な思い出を作ることができた一日となりました。
Also, we brought, our unit of inquiry, Unit 2 to a close with a brief review of our three Lines of Inquiry: different kinds of animals, what animals need to survive, and how animals are connected to people in many ways.During the review, the children were eager to share their ideas and speak in front of their classmates. We heard comments such as, “This is a sheep,” “This is a cat. It lives at home,” and “Animals need a house, love and care.” Other students shared that animals need water to live.The children also demonstrated their understanding of the connection between animals and people. When different animal products, including milk, eggs, honey, wool and ham, were shown, they quickly identified the animals associated with each product: cow, hen, bee, sheep, and pig. Their quick responses and willingness to explain their ideas showed that they were able to recall and make connections across the different areas explored during the unit. Indeed, the review provided an opportunity for the children to revisit their learning and listen to the ideas of their classmates.
また、今週はUnit 2の学びを締めくくり、これまで探究してきた3つのLines of Inquiry（探究の流れ）について振り返りました。
今回のUnitでは、
・さまざまな種類の動物
・動物が生きていくために必要なもの
・動物と人とのさまざまなつながり
について探究してきました。
振り返りの時間には、子どもたちは自分の考えを積極的に発表し、お友だちの前で話すことを楽しんでいました。「これは羊だよ」「これは猫。お家で暮らしているよ」「動物にはお家と愛情、お世話が必要だよ」など、それぞれがUnitで学んだことを思い出しながら、自分の言葉で伝えていました。また、「動物が生きるためにはお水が必要」と話すお友だちもいました。さらに、動物と人とのつながりについても、しっかりと理解している様子が見られました。牛乳、卵、はちみつ、羊毛、ハムなどの動物に関わる食品や製品を見せると、それぞれが「牛」「にわとり」「はち」「羊」「豚」と、どの動物から生まれたものなのかをすぐに答えることができました。子どもたちがこれまでの学びをよく覚えているだけでなく、それぞれの経験や知識をつなげながら考えていることが伝わってきました。今回の振り返りは、自分たちがUnitを通して学んだことをもう一度思い出すだけでなく、お友だちの考えや気づきにも耳を傾ける、素敵な学びの時間となりました。
