This week was eye-opening after we learned that a big typhoon had come. We watched the news and saw that some places in Japan were affected by heavy rain, strong winds, and landslides. There were inquiries like how a typhoon is formed, what happens during landslides, how important trees are, and what people should do in case of an emergency caused by a typhoon like power outage, flood, landslides, etc.
We learned that trees play a very important role in the environment. They give us oxygen while we give them carbon dioxide. Cutting trees will have a big effect on the environment such as landslides, less food supply, no oxygen supply, and more damaging effects.
We discussed some human actions that have good and bad effects on the environment.
As we go along the unit, we have been learning more about how human actions impact the environment so we assessed ourselves again where we think we are in the SOLO taxonomy rubric.
