The Central Idea of the current unit is Plants grow in different Environments. To get solid evidence to support this idea, the Rainforest is now experimenting with different seeds planted in different environments. They want to see which environment will be able to produce a plant. We came up with 5 environments: 1. Cold Environment with little sun and water. 2. Environment with too much water and too much sun. 3. Environment with no sun and water. 4. Too much sun and little water. 5. Fair environment with enough sun and water. The whole class was excited preparing for the experiment and can’t wait to see the results next month. We will be looking closely at our specimens and checking their progress every day.
To wrap up our inquiry on Long and Short Vowel sound in Phonics, the Rainforest class had a pairing challenge where they were tasked to sort the pictures and decide if it is producing long or short vowel sounds. The activity helped them to review sounding each letter and hone their listening skills as well.
To end this busy yet fun week, we headed to the Gojo Campus for a playdate: The Gojo Exchange Program. This collaboration between the 2 campuses helps the students to gain more friends among ISN family members, become more familiar with the ISN Elementary Campus, and have a glimpse of Elementary life.
We were entertained by students in Grades 1, 2, and 3, and were given the chance to have fun with them. We truly enjoyed the campus tour and hanging out with our schoolmates.
We will dig deeper into our inquiry about plants next week, and we’re excited to find the answers to some of our questions posted on our Wonderwall.
See you all in the next blog!
Have a lovely weekend!
