Hello everyone!
It has been a fantastic week, with the highlight being an amazing field trip! We have also had fun playing outside in the slightly cooler weather.
Field trip
We had an absolute blast on our field trip this week! One of our parents graciously arranged a fantastic day at Sarashina Agricultural High School. Thank you so much for helping put this together! Thank you to everyone at Sarashina Agricultural High School for making it such a special day.
Our recent field trip is directly related to our Unit of Inquiry 2, which focuses on the topic “How do we grow?”. We are currently discussing how plants grow and exploring ways in which we can assist their growth. This excursion provided our students with hands-on experience to reinforce their learning and make meaningful connections to their studies.
All our small Aurora students teamed up with some much bigger high school students. They first helped us plant some seeds in a small planter, which they got to take home after.
After planting, we went to the orchard and picked apples, pears, and grapes. It was heartwarming to see older students assisting younger ones. Everyone returned with big bags of fruit!
Finally, we went back to witness a special presentation by a group of students on the growth of fruits. The presentation was both fun and educational, and the best part was that it was all in English! The students did an outstanding job, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Reflection and formative assessment
In our upcoming UOI lesson, we took a moment to reflect on our previous trip by drawing and using clay to recreate what we remembered. As part of our ongoing formative assessment, the children were given the opportunity to present their creations to the entire class.
