Greetings!
In this week’s Unit of Inquiry, we had two activities. First, the students drew their understanding of “recycling.” It was good to know that at an early age, the Rainforest students have many different ideas about recycling.

Next, we had a group activity called “Gallery Walk.” They chose and worked as a group on which recyclable material they wanted. The 1st group chose plastic, the 2nd group chose magazines, the 3rd group chose glass bottles, and the 4th group chose newspapers. They shared with the class why they chose the material and how they were going to recycle it. Good job!

This week, we conducted an earthquake drill. To begin, we explained to our little ones what an “earthquake” is and what safety precautions to follow when it occurs, such as the following:
O, HA, SHI, MO.
– Do not push your friends.
– Do not run.
– Do not talk.
– Do not come back.
When they heard the bell ring, everybody hid under the tables and covered their heads. They all did a great job!

EASTER
As we celebrate Easter, our young ones made a bunny and an egg using recycled materials. First, they made a basket out of a milk carton and then decorated it with colorful paper. Next, they created a cute bunny and egg using newspaper. Through this activity, we can still apply what we are learning in our UOI lesson while having fun making crafts at the same time.

It was our first time walking to the park, and everyone enjoyed it a lot! It was a good experience to enjoy the spring season before it ends.

MUSIC CLASS
In music class, we sang songs related to the season and practiced playing “Butterfly’s song” on the pianica. Most of the children were able to play well up to the second measure.

TENNIS LESSON
In the tennis lesson, Rainforest students practiced catching the balls they threw themselves. We learned that in tennis you have to catch the ball with one bounce or no bounces. At the end of the lesson, the students were divided into Boys and Girls teams and had a race to catch the ball and put it in the basket; the Boys team had more kids who could catch the ball well, but the Girls team had better teamwork and won against the Boys team!

Here are some songs and videos we are using in our class now. Enjoy!
Have an awesome weekend, everyone!
