Nakano MW/G1: Visiting the Hydropower plant and Apple Museum

This week was filled with exciting and meaningful learning experiences!

今週は、楽しくて学びの多い素晴らしい一週間となりました。

We were fortunate to welcome police officers to our school, who kindly taught us about traffic safety rules. This special lesson connected to our unit of inquiry, reminding us that taking care of our own safety and health is part of our personal responsibility. The officers were patient and engaging, allowing the students to interact with them—and even explore the inside of a real patrol car! We are very grateful for their time and support.

まず、警察官の皆さんが学校に来てくださり、交通安全のルールについて優しく丁寧に教えてくれました。この特別な授業は、私たちの探究の学びともつながっていて、「自分の安全や健康を守ることは自分の責任である」ということを改めて学びました。子どもたちは警察官の方々と交流し、実際のパトカーにも乗せてもらうことができました。警察官の皆さん、本当にありがとうございました。

Later in the week, we went on a joint field trip with the upper grade students to visit a hydropower plant. This experience helped us understand the importance of being responsible with energy use in Nagano, and taught us about the systems and rules behind sustainable energy for our community.

We also visited the Apple Museum, where we learned about the many varieties of apples grown in Japan—44 in total! We explored how local farmers care for the trees and fulfill their responsibilities in maintaining such rich apple diversity.

また、今週は高学年の子どもたちと一緒に、水力発電所への校外学習にも行きました。長野で使われているエネルギーについて学び、地域社会のためによりよいエネルギーを生み出すためのルールやしくみについても理解を深めることができました。

さらに、りんご博物館も訪れ、日本で育てられている44種類のりんごとその木について学びました。地元の方々がどのように木を育て、責任を持ってりんご作りをしているのかを知ることができ、とても勉強になりました。
