Let’s Get ready for the Inquiry Fair! – Rainforest July 14th-18th

While Ms. Aiza is on vacation, teachers from other classes have been coming to Rainforest calss for the UOI lessons, writing and Phonics lessons. No matter which teacher comes, the Rainforest children are always doing the best they can and learning as much as they can.

This week we have been busy preparing for the Inquiry Fair and the Rainforest class has decided to share what they have learned about “recycling” by dividing into three booths. Each booth will be quizzing guests with questions and presenting what they have learned. What do you need to do to prepare your booth? What kind of things would make the guests happy? After a good discussion among the teams, the children came up with many ideas! We are also working hard to prepare small gifts to give to our guests, and we hope that many of them will visit the Rainforest class booth.

On Monday, we played in the river with Savanna friends. When a friend was able to make boats using bamboo branches, they all learned how to make them and floated them down the river to start the race! Some children remembered and sang the “Tanabata” song when they saw the bamboo branches, and enjoyed playing in the water making splashes with Savanna friends.

This week, two junior high school students came to Rainforet class for work experience. They are sportsmen and very kind, and the children quickly became friends with them. Since the students were basketball players, they taught us the rules of the game and the importance of teamwork. Rainforest children were also allowed to touch the balls used in the game, which made them very happy! They were also taught how to dribble and pass the ball. At first, some of the children were a bit nervous about receiving the big ball, but they were very happy when they were able to catch the ball that was gently thrown to them! Hope we can see them you again.

Last week’s gym lessons marked the beginning of practice for the Sports Festival in September! Rainforet, the oldest preschoolers, will be competing in a relay race and performing with ribbons for the first time. In the relay practice, the children learned how to pass the baton well. It is quite a difficult task to receive the baton from a friend coming from behind while turning your body in the direction of running. The students tried several times to pass the baton the way the teacher showed them by example, and little by little they are getting better at it. For the performance practice, they were taught how to hold the ribbon, how to make a neat circle in the air, and how to put it away neatly. We will keep practicing hard so that we can give the best performance made by teamwork to the tune of everyone’s favorite “Pokemon” song.

Have a wonderful long weekend!
