Swimming Waterfall July 14-18

Waterfall students explored and used their thinking and research skills to sort more animals. There are many animals! This UOI students will be inquiring about many different types of animals and this week they explored animals that live in the water. Students thought about differences like “It can swim” or “It can walk,” then they stuck animals on the wall where they live.

Later Waterfall students went singing and “Walking in the Jungle” with their finger puppet animals.  Then they made beautiful fork scratch paintings of even more animals. They chose the animals that they like and practiced what they learned about facial features to add eyes, ears, noses and mouths.

In Phonics students are made toy animal masks for dress up. The animals they chose share the first letter of their names.  Students looked for their letter and decided which animal to color. They learned about special features like horns or long ears and put the facial features on their animals.

Waterfall students have been watching a video to search for animals in the dark- What is it? So far, they have found animals that live on land and water!

It has been a busy week for Waterfall, but not to busy to go outside and splash around in the cool water or have a chat around the kitchen table! Waterfall also enjoyed play time with a special guest helper in the classroom! Thank you for playing with us!
