Where do animals live? – International School of Nagano

こんにちは！今週もオーロラさん達の楽しい一週間をお知らせします😊

Since we, Aurora class will dance with the song about ”Animal carnival”, we started making carnival masks. First, the kids painted the paper plate with their favorite color. It’s their first time to use the paint blush, but they were trying to paint the entire surface of the paper plate so that no white areas would remain. Next week, they’re going to make the feathers and glue them to the mask!

スポーツフェスティバルで披露するアニマルカーニバルのダンスにちなんで、カーニバルマスクの工作にとりかかりました！まずは紙皿に絵具で色を塗ります。筆を使って絵具を塗るのは初めてでしたが、白いところが見えなくなるまで一生懸命塗っていました👍来週、色紙とはさみを使って羽を作って取り付ける予定です！

In our UOI, we thought about where do the animals live. We picked the flash cards and discussed where do they live? in the Sky? on the Land(Farm/Zoo)? or in the Water? Our little learners showed their knowlede which they got from the video, books and their experience, then put those cards on the wall. Also, they did this activity during the morning workstation time. While they were doing this activity, they also loved to imitate animals like flamingo, gorilla, crocodile…!!!

UOIでは、動物たちはどこに住んでいるの？を考えました。たくさんの動物カードを見て、空？陸（牧場/動物園）？それとも海や川など水の中？子ども達はこれまで動画や本を見たり、実際に見たり聞いたりしたことをもとにカードをそれぞれの場所に貼っていき、knowledableな面を見せてくれました✨フラミンゴやゴリラ、ワニなど親しみのある動物が出てくると、真似をしながらこのアクティビティを楽しみました🎶

In our phonics lesson, we learned the letter ”F”. The words start with letter F are… Fox, Fish, Frog(they imitated frog of course!), fountain, fly, flamingo(they imitated this too!), feather, fishing rod and fruit bowl. We had a matching game. All children had a card of the picture, and then they found the friend who has the same card. When they made a pair, they say what that word is. They showed their communication skills and made pairs quickly. Wonderful!! We also enjoyed a scavenger hunt. Teachers put the cards all around the classroom and then the children searched for the picture that the teacher said. They listened to the teacher carefully and were so excited to find the pictures!

Phonicsレッスンでは、大文字「F」を学びました。Fから始まる単語、、、きつね、魚、カエル（もちろんカエルの真似っこ！）、噴水、ハエ、フラミンゴ（さぁフラミンゴに変身！）、羽、釣り竿やフルーツボウル。楽しいゲームもしました。まずはマッチングゲーム。みんなが一枚ずつカードを持ち、同じ絵のカードを持ったお友達を探してペアになり、その単語を一緒に言うゲームです。Who has this？と声をかけながら、あっという間にペアができていきました。Good communicatorsですね。宝探しゲームもやりました。クラス中にちりばめられたカードから、先生が言った単語の絵を探します。しっかり聞き、見つけると大喜び！先生たちの背中の後ろにもカードが隠れていました😊

Since we planted the tomatoes in our garden, our little learners worked hard to water them. This week, some tomatoes’ color turned yellow, so we harvested them and ate them during lunch time! ”It’s yummy!” ”I like tomato!” They felt happy to eat the vegetable they grew. We will keep taking care of the tomatoes and will harvest more.

春に苗を植えてから、みんなで水やりをしてお世話をしてきたAuroraさんのミニトマト。みんなよりすっかり大きく育ち、色が緑から黄色に変わってきました。みんなで収穫し、キッチンの先生方に洗って切っていただき、ランチの時間にいただきました！「おいしい！」「とまと大好き！」と、自分達で育てて収穫したトマトを嬉しそうに食べていました☆これからの収穫も楽しみです！
