Week 2 – Thursday
Almost the last day of the Summer School, and what better way to finish it than with some yummy homemade food!?
In the morning, the lower-grade students made jelly together with their homeroom teachers. The kids were super excited and chose their favorite jelly flavor to make. They could choose from peach, orange, apple, and grape! Once they chose their “flavor team”, they joined their preparation tables and started preparing and decorating all cups with mixed fruits. Students then helped fill their cups and waited for the jelly to set.
Of course, the moment all students were waiting for was the actual eating of the jelly! Yum! Everyone enjoyed their jelly and left juuuust enough space in their tummies for lunch soon after that.
In the afternoon, the upper-grade students changed up the game completely and made the most amazing chocolate chip cookies. However, since we were dealing with upper-grade students, we let them handle all of the tasks, weighing the ingredients, following the recipe, stirring everything until making the actual cookies. The smell of freshly baked cookies definitely attracted a crowd; students and teachers both came to check the project room and see if there were some fresh cookies to be scored.
Once all cookies came out of the oven, we had them cool down a little, and then we gathered in the Skyroom for a genuine cookie munch fest! It was the perfect way to end a lovely day here at Gojo!
