Azumino Alps Park & Cow Milking

As the proverb goes… “it takes a village to raise a child”. Indeed, Canyon was very fortunate that the community warmly welcomed our our curious little minds and our inquiries and . We went to Azumino Alps Park and a dairy farm brought a ‘milking cow’ to ISN.

In the park and nature study room, we saw live salmon fish, beetles, frogs and more! There were specimens of butterflies, molted skin of snakes and owl feathers. We took a stroll through the forest. The cicadas were so loud! We spotted spiders and ants. We even picked pine cones!

Before cow milking, we wondered…Does milk come out of the cow’s mouth? Tummy? Belly button? Their UDDERS! We were shown the different kinds of food that cows eat – hay and sugar beet pellets. We tried shaking the milk bottle really hard to make butter! We had fruitful learning journeys! Thank you, Matsumoto! We created a little cow farm in class too!

Show and Tell

We have been building our vocabulary and even counting through the Show and Tell artefacts brought to the classroom. Thank you for bringing them to school. ‘Short tail’ someone said when a toy dachshund dog was presented. We counted seashells too and wondered if there were any hermit crabs in them, just like in the book “A House for Hermit Crab”.

Sports Festivial Practice – Animals Galore

Canyon has been practising their race and Bunny Hop performance for Sports Festival. We have a theme song too, with a cat, a pig and a penguin! We have been ‘Walking in the Jungle” in class and trying not to be eaten by the tiger. Run! Till next week, have a fabulous weekend.
