CANYON: More Animals & Sports Festival! September 8-12

UOI POLAR & DESERT ANIMALS

Animals in the desert and the polar regions were our next inquiries. We found out that the Mummy and Daddy penguins are such good parents. They keep the cute little baby penguins warm in their bodies. In Canyon, we not only read story books, we read information books too. The baby penguin is called a chick with soft grey feathers. We have been using the words ‘soft and fluffy’ in class and during Show & Tell too.

LEARNER PROFILE: BEING CARING

We read a book by Helen Stephens called The Night Iceberg about a little girl, Tofta and some penguins. Tofta was not very happy with her baby brother and did not want to share toys or her bedroom with him. So she decided to ride off in an iceberg at night! Eventually, she learned to share with the penguins on an iceberg! This animal-themed book about being loving and caring was a good fit for our learner profile – caring. Canyon has been saying to one another “Are you okay?” or “It’s ok. Try again.” We have been learning that Sharing is Caring!

We love our Grandparents! Grandma and Grandpa play with us, send us to school, teach us and cook for us. Canyon made cards for our dear grandparents. Each student tried tracing their names and reading the word ‘Love, …’. We learned a song too. “I love my Grandma. I love my Grandpa.”

SPORTS FESTIVAL

Our very first Sports Festival was a great success! Thank you all for your wonderful support and participation. Canyon was awesome in their races. They raced ahead like cheetahs, lions and tigers! They were absolutely adorable in their bunny costumes too! They danced so well and enjoyed themselves! Here are their moments in the gym and behind the scenes. Till next Tuesday, have a fantastic long weekend! Happy Grandparents’ Day! 敬老の日 Keirō no Hi
