Shining Toward the Winter Show-Rainforest Dec. 8th-12th

Hi, everyone!
In our Unit of Inquiry, we are learning about the different ways to tell a story, such as through pictures, spoken words, and written words. As we wrap up Unit 3, we had an activity where the children were divided into three groups, and each group chose a topic to share with the class. The first group presented “The Cat and Dog Have a Christmas Tree” using written words—they created their own story and even made a book. The second group chose spoken words and shared their original story about “The Winter Christmas Tree.” Last but not least, the third group created their own story about the “Winter Show” using pictures. It was amazing to see how much they’ve grown in this unit and how confidently they can now create their own English stories. Well done, Rainforest!

A week before our main event of the year—the Winter Show—our little ones are giving their very best during practice. After our reflection time, we also work on a self-assessment checklist. Together, we review the items on the list, and the children assess themselves to see whether they have achieved our set goals. If they have, they receive a star sticker. It’s wonderful to see how responsible and aware they have become of their own learning, taking pride in every step of their progress. Their excitement is growing each day as the big show gets closer!

This week, we also worked on a Christmas craft. The children traced Christmas-themed pictures onto vinyl sheets and colored them beautifully using markers. Around their pictures, they freely drew lines and added their favorite colors, creating a stained-glass effect. Each child’s artwork turned out wonderfully unique!

To finish the craft, they attached crumpled aluminum foil to the back of the vinyl sheets, which made the colors shine even more and gave the artwork an extra special touch.

This week, one of our little ones turned six! She enjoyed a wonderful birthday celebration at school, where the children worked together to build a big, tall “cake” made of blocks. The room was filled with smiles, laughter, and excitement as everyone joined in the fun. It was a sweet reminder of how creative, caring, and supportive our learners are—making every special moment even more memorable. It was wonderful to see them communicating with each other, saying things like, “Can I use the marker?” as they shared and took turns.

Wishing everyone a wonderful and relaxing weekend!
