We are so happy to be back at school! After a long and enjoyable vacation, the children returned with many memories to reflect on and lots of stories to share. In the classroom, you could hear students excitedly talking about their holidays—some said, “I went to Hawaii and saw a Komodo dragon!” while others shared, “I went to Hawaii and swam!” Some talked about their experience on a cruise ship, while others stayed in Japan and had fun exploring different places like Disney and other parts of the country. And for some, the best part of the break was simply enjoying the cozy comfort of home with their families.

明けましておめでとうございます！長く楽しい冬休みを終え、子どもたちはたくさんの思い出とお話を持って元気に登園してきました。教室では、休み中の出来事を楽しそうに共有する姿が見られました。「ハワイでコモドドラゴンを見たよ！」「お婆ちゃんに会ったよ！」「ディズニーランドに行ったよ！」「パパと公園で凧揚げしたよ！」なとなど、みんな大好きなお家の方々と、暖かく楽しい時間を過ごせたようでした。

All of the children shared their stories proudly and with happiness in their hearts. As a school, we are especially proud to hear them exchange these stories with one another in English.

どの子も誇らしげに、そして嬉しそうに自分の経験を共有してくれました。特に、英語でお友だち同士にお話をしている姿を見られたことは、担任としてとても誇りに思います。

We have officially completed our third Unit of Inquiry, which focused on Living and Non-living Things. Savanna class learned so much, and it has been a joy to hear them naturally use vocabulary from the unit in their everyday conversations. We hear comments like, “Oh, there is a pupa on the plant,” “We need to water the plant so it will grow bigger,” and even “Ultraman is a living thing because he is strong!”
This week, we reviewed the unit through interviews as we transition into a brand-new unit—and the children are already very excited to begin!

Savannaクラスでは、Unit3「生きているもの・生きていないもの」を無事に終えました。子どもたちは多くのことを学び、日常会話の中で学んだ言葉を自然に使っています。「クラスの植物にサナギがいるよ」「大きくなるからお水をあげないとね」「ウルトラマンは強いから生きているものだよ」など、学びが生活にしっかりとつながっています。今週は、次の新しいユニットに向けてインタビュー形式で振り返りを行いました。子どもたちは次のユニットもとても楽しみにしています。

We have also been practicing reading, and the children are truly enjoying it. They are now ready to start reading RAZ books, which we will begin next week. In writing, we will finish practicing the alphabet next week with our special final letter “t.” After that, we will move on to writing their names using a mix of capital and lowercase letters. They love writing and are very eager to move on to the next stage.

リーディング練習も引き続き行っており、みんなで楽しみながら取り組んでいます。来週からは RAZブックを読み始める予定です。またライティングでは、アルファベットの練習がいよいよ最終段階に入り、特別な最後の文字「t」を仕上げます。その後は、大文字と小文字を使って自分の名前を書く練習へと進んでいきます。こうして振り返ると、4月からは比べ物にならないくらい、どの子も綺麗に、正しくアルファベットを書けるようになってきましたね。子どもたちは書くことが大好きで、次のステップをとても楽しみにしています。

We have started the year slowly and gently, and we hope to continue this approach throughout the year—taking our time, enjoying every moment, and making sure that learning is meaningful and deeply understood in both the heart and the mind.

ワークステーションでは引き続き折り紙に取り組み、丁寧に正しく折る練習をしています。今週折っただるまには、新年の目標を書きました✨またフリータイムにはテリトリーゲームをスタート。子どもたちはあっという間にルールを理解し、約束事を守りながら、毎日白熱バトルを繰り広げています。ルールやお約束事、今日の試合結果など、またお子さんに聞いてみてくださいね😊今年度は、ゆっくり・穏やかなペースで、毎日を楽しみ、心と頭の両方で深く理解できる学びを大切にしていきたいと思います。
