We have a new theme and unit to explore – How We Organise Ourselves: Transportation. Our central idea revolves around how the different transport modes connect us in the community. The best way to learn is to have the experience first-hand, and so we took a train ride! That day, we travelled by three different types of transport – train, bus and by foot. Our destination was a park that we have never been to before. What an exciting day!

We boarded the Oito line train from Matsumoto station to Kita Matsumoto station. Canyon was really good passengers! They were seated and listened to instructions from the teachers and the train driver. We made it to Kita- Matsumoto Station safely.

We played a Transport Guessing Game – What Am I? The class gets 3 clues… I am big. I carry many passengers. I run on railway tracks. We had fun guessing! Canyon created our very own mural wall. There were photographs of the different types of transport as an introduction. Some vehicles were familiar but some were not. Canyon was asked, “what do you think this is? Do you think this goes on the road, the sea or in the sky?” We tried drawing cars, trucks and trains with basic shapes like rectangles, squares and circles.

Thank you Canyon, for bringing your transport toys and books to school for Show and Tell. We learned so much from one another. We learned about parts of the vehicles like the hutch of a car (or boot if it is British English). Someone brought in helicopter with 4 propeller blades. We counted the number of wheels. We were told that the stretcher goes into the ambulance. “Someone is hurt. So they need to go to the hospital!
Till next week, take care and have a wonderful weekend!
