GROWING IN MANY WAYS- Rainforest 19th-23rd

Hi, everyone! Here’s a look at what we explored and learned this week.

In this week’s unit of inquiry, we continued our discussion about “Growth.” We explored what growth means for young learners and talked about the various healthy habits our children practice in their daily lives. Through open discussions and shared examples, the students reflected on how their everyday choices help them grow stronger, happier, and more confident. We then had an activity where the children created their own lunchboxes. They were free to choose and include all the foods they like, without any teacher guidance on whether the items were healthy or not. This activity allowed them to express their preferences and make independent choices.

In addition, we had a collaboration day with our Savanna friends during workstation time. This experience gave the children a wonderful opportunity to practice positive social habits such as sharing, cooperating, and communicating with others. Through this unit, we emphasized that growth is not only about our physical bodies, but also about our emotional and social well-being.

SETSUBUN CRAFT

Setsubun is just around the corner!
In class, we learned about what Setsubun is and why it is celebrated by reading two picture-story shows: “Why Do We Throw Beans on Setsubun?” and “Bunny Mimi Says, ‘Oni wa soto!’”

The children already knew that Setsubun is the day when we throw beans, when oni (demons) come, and when we eat ehomaki. Through the stories, they learned even more—such as why oni dislike beans and that Setsubun marks the change of seasons.

To prepare for our “oni-chasing day,” the children also made their own oni headbands. They chose how many horns to include and decided on the shapes of the eyebrows and noses all by themselves.

Now we’re fully prepared—no matter when the oni decide to visit! 👹✨

Wishing everyone a joyful and wonderful weekend!
