Hi everyone!
We kicked off our week by reviewing the stages of growth. The students worked in groups to solve puzzles, where their task was to match different skills to the correct growth stage. They were also encouraged to explain their reasoning, helping them think more deeply about why each skill belongs to a particular stage of development.

Most of our time this week was dedicated to exploring more about job titles and what they actually entail. We have now moved onto our final line of inquiry- The journey of life. Which we all defined as, “we go through different steps as we grow up and change.” They listened to the story ,”I am growing at my own pace”, by The Little Leap Studio. The book talks about how people grow and develop at different paces and emphasizes that it’s okay to grow differently and not have the same skills or abilities as others.

They watched a sing-along video of a little girl role playing different jobs with her dad. When asked about their thoughts and opinions regarding these jobs, some of their comments were : “A nurse calls people’s names when the doctor is ready to see them.A firefighter puts out fires so people don’t get hurt.A waiter carries food to people’s tables at restaurants. An astronaut explores space and looks for things on the moon and beyond.A police officer helps to keep people safe.”
To follow up on this, they played charades, where they pretended to do a particular job. Their peers guessed what the job was and explained what the role entails and how it helps others.

For this week’s Japanese inquiry time they learned how to say days of the week in Japanese.

~The week ahead~
Everyone is excited about the valentine’s activity we have planned for next week. It will be their first time cooking in Milky Way! We will continue exploring different job roles and talking about them in more detail as we prepare for our Open Day in mid-February.
Have a great weekend!
