For adults, celebrations are a natural part of life—something we experience so often that they can sometimes feel routine. However, through the eyes of our young learners, celebrations are filled with wonder, excitement, and endless possibilities.

大人にとって、お祝いごとは人生の自然な一部であり、日常の中で何度も経験するものです。そのため、時には当たり前のことのように感じてしまうこともあります。
しかし、子どもたちの目を通して見ると、お祝いは驚きやワクワク、そして無限の可能性に満ちた特別なものです。

This month, our little Savanna class had a special opportunity to host their very own event. But this was not one of the usual celebrations we often see. Instead, it was something the children imagined, designed, and created from scratch.

今月、Savannaクラスの子どもたちは、自分たちでイベントを開催するという特別な機会を持ちました。
それは、よくあるお祝いイベントとは少し違います。子どもたちが想像し、アイデアを出し合い、一から作り上げたオリジナルのイベントだったのです。

As part of the summative assessment for our final Unit of Inquiry, the Savanna students planned their own celebration. Together, they explored big questions such as: What makes a celebration special? What do we need to prepare? How can we make it fun and meaningful for everyone?

今回の最終UOIの総括的評価（サマティブアセスメント）の一環として、Savannaクラスの子どもたちは自分たちでお祝いイベントを計画しました。
子どもたちは一緒に、次のような大きな問いについて考えました。
「お祝いを特別なものにするには何が必要だろう？」
「どんな準備が必要かな？」
「どうしたら、みんなにとって楽しく、意味のあるものにできるだろう？」

With these ideas in mind, the children began organizing and planning their event. They proudly created what they called “The Savanna Party – A Celebration of Friendship.” From choosing what guests should wear, to deciding what food to serve, what games to play, what songs to sing, and even what souvenirs the guests would receive, every detail was thoughtfully discussed and planned by the students themselves. They worked with enthusiasm, creativity, and joy throughout the process.

こうしたアイデアをもとに、子どもたちは自分たちのイベントの準備と計画を始めました。
そして、「Savanna Party – A Celebration of Friendship（友情を祝うサバンナパーティー）」と名付けたイベントを、誇らしげに作り上げました。
ドレスコードを決めることから、どんな食べ物を用意するか、どんなゲームをするか、どんな歌を歌うか、そしてゲストにどんなお土産を渡すかまで、すべての内容を子どもたち自身が話し合い、考えて決めました。
子どもたちは、終始ワクワクした気持ちと豊かなアイデアを持ちながら、楽しんで準備を進めていました。

This experience beautifully showed how our Savanna learners are developing important IB Learner Profile attributes. They demonstrated being risk-takers as they tried new ideas, open-minded as they listened to one another’s suggestions, thinkers as they planned their celebration, and communicators as they shared and organized their ideas together.

この経験を通して、Savannaクラスの子どもたちが IB Learner Profile の大切な姿を育んでいることがよく伝わってきました。
子どもたちは、新しいアイデアに挑戦する中で Risk-takers（挑戦する人） としての姿を見せ、友だちの意見に耳を傾ける中で Open-minded（心を開く人） の姿を示しました。さらに、お祝いを計画する過程では Thinkers（考える人） として考えを深め、アイデアを共有しながら一緒に準備を進める中で Communicators（伝える人） としての力も発揮していました。

As we are now nearing the end of the school year, we have also been taking time to revisit and reflect on the many things the children have learned throughout the year. In writing, we reviewed the different types of letters: fall letters, small letters, and tall letters. The children approached the activity with confidence and demonstrated a clear understanding of these concepts.

学年の終わりが近づく中で、子どもたちがこの一年を通して学んできたことを振り返る時間も大切にしています。
ライティングの活動では、fall letters（下にのびる文字）・small letters（小さい文字）・tall letters（上にのびる文字） という文字の種類を復習しました。
子どもたちは自信を持って活動に取り組み、それぞれの文字の特徴をしっかり理解している様子を見せてくれました。

Their growth can also be seen in their writing. Many students are now able to write neatly along the baseline, showing greater control and awareness of letter formation. While some children are still continuing to strengthen their writing skills, all of them now understand the concept, which is an important foundation as they prepare for their next step.

子どもたちの成長は、ライティングの様子からも感じられます。多くの子どもたちが、ベースラインに沿って丁寧に文字を書くことができるようになり、文字の形への意識やコントロールも高まってきました。
まだ書く力を伸ばしている途中の子どももいますが、すべての子どもたちがこのコンセプトを理解しています。これは、次のステップへ進むための大切な基礎となるものです。

As they get ready to move to their final preschool class at ISN, the Rainforest class, we cannot help but feel proud of how much they have grown—not only academically, but also as caring friends, confident communicators, and curious learners. Watching them support one another, share ideas, and celebrate together reminds us that learning is not only about knowledge, but also about the beautiful relationships they build along the way.

We look forward to seeing them continue to grow, explore, and shine in the exciting journey ahead.

子どもたちは、ISNでの最後のプリスクールクラスである Rainforestクラス へ進む準備をしています。これまでの成長を思うと、私たちは誇らしい気持ちでいっぱいになります。子どもたちは学習面だけでなく、思いやりのある友だちとして、自信をもって伝えるコミュニケーターとして、そして好奇心あふれる学び手としても大きく成長しました。
お互いに助け合い、アイデアを共有し、一緒にお祝いする子どもたちの姿を見ていると、学びとは知識だけではなく、その過程で築かれていく素敵な人とのつながりでもあるのだと改めて感じます。

これからも子どもたちが成長し、さまざまなことに挑戦しながら、それぞれの輝きを広げていく姿を楽しみにしています。
